Al Sandros Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Ruth A  (22 August 2004)

Thanks you Lee, Alex and Neil for making our holiday special. This was the most friendly bar in the whole of Kalamaki. They show all the latest films, guess the year quiz, Dr Allen and his amazing music and a pool table which children become addicted too (well they do in our family). Hi to Jo with the previous comment who we met on their last night.

Kalamaki Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Ruth A

Sorry to disagree but we found the sand was full of cig ends and rubbish, which shocked us as they claim to protect the turtles. The sea is fantastic though how it gently slopes down so it is very safe for the kids.
The beaches are the only thing that lets Kalamaki down as the rest of the resort is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Antonis Apartments - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Ruth A

We were in the blue studio block, which I understand is owned by the Merlis business. It was very basic but very clean. Being on the ground floor the apartment opened up onto a little garden which was very pleasant. The noise at night went on until about 1.00am which mainly came from the films different bars were showing and nothing too loud to cope with. Our pick up time on returning to the UK was 2.40am so we booked a room for the night at the Antonis bar for 35e, this room was in the new white block everyone is on about, yes it is more modern with views of the sea but it is no more comfortable. The pool is the best I've been to and the drinks and food at the bar are good prices e.g. chip buttie 2.50e, full breakfast 4.00e

Island Tour by Coach - (Zante Excursions)

Ruth A

We booked a trip through our rep called Discover Zante. This trip was very good value for money visiting the blue caves (you have to pay extra 7e for an adult) volimes the small market town and a few more. Our guide was Carole who's commentry really made this trip worth taking, we learnt a lot on this trip (unlike the Sunkissed cruise with Thomas Cook, which was a total waste of money, and I think only ment as a fun day for the reps who came along).

Baccus Grill - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Ruth A  (22 August 2004)

A bit more expensive but well worth it if you want to try real Greek food. The Kleftiko is one not to be missed with Abraham coming to the table with a flamming tray with you meal inside a tin foil bag in the middle of the flames, the kids meals are good value (the same price as everywhere else 2.50e - 3.00e). Mario and Abraham are a very good team at working the tables and making you feel welcome. Bakkus grill is well worth a visit.

Merlis Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

6.80e for Onion soup, Beef Dinner and Strawberries and Cream was the most we paid for one of Merlis's meal deals, the cheapes was 5.50e for a three course meal with the main meal being lasagne. On entering you are met by Melissa, Yolanda , Dennis or the man who takes the orders (we never got to know his name).
On average the bill came to 27e for two adult and two children, this was including puddings.
This was our favourite place to eat as the prices were good, they have a very good understanding of english and like to have a laugh with you and the quality of the food was good.
