Zakfari Jeep Safari - (Zante Excursions)

Laura C  (11 August 2004)

My Boyfriend and I experienced a wonderful day on the Zakfari. It was value for money, it showed us the sights of the beautiful Island that is Zante and allowed us to see the famous shipwreck! Our guide for the day, and driver of our jeep was Malcolm, he was full of interesting facts about the Island, he was approachable and really cared about what you had to say and answered any questions you may have had. At the end of the day, we visited a beach near the Sulphur springs, it was a experience that left us all smelling slightly!hahaha. Malcolm told us that it was his last day and that he was retrning to England to run his own pub and be close to his grandchildren, we just wanted to say, thank you for an unforgettable day and good luck in the future malcolm, Zakfari and Zante will miss you.

Dennys Inn Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Laura C

My Boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Denny's Inn. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, the staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, the only thing lacking was air conditioning and you definately need it during the night.
The breakfasts were nice, despite what others might say!!!
It is only a stones throw away from the beach and within walking distance(short walk) from Kalamaki main street where it is all happening. The hotel is in the prime spot, quiet and peaceful yet within the reach of the tavernas, pubs and clubs(catering for all.)We stayed for bed and breakfast, but it was so cheap to eat out in the tavernas and restaurants, you had no ties to stay in the hotel if you didnt want. Had a brill time, both would come back tomorrow to escape to the beautiful Island and leave the terrible British Weather behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some really good places to eat out and cheap.
House wine especially (some places 1 litre for 4 euros (£2.80 ish))
Iguana,Artemis(must),Zepo's Family Taverna, Stani and Panarama all great. Try Greek dishes well worth it, delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Island Tour by Coach - (Zante Excursions)

Laura C

We went on this day out on our second to last day in Zante. Our guide was Carol. She told us lots about the island and even some Greek traditions. We stopped at many places along the way and even had the great opportunity to see caves and actually go in them. (this was an extra 12 euros but worth it). Lunch and relaxation on St Nicholas beach was mmmwell interesting, very expensive and not that brilliant food wise.
The view from the top of the mountain overlooking Zante town and harbour with a refreshing ice cream was a perfect way to end a very enjoyable and memorable day. This is a must if you wanna see the island in all it's glory.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

Laura C

we went on this boat ride which was booked through our club rep at our hotel. The boat was big, air conditioned and plenty of seats to go around! Its a boat trip day out, so surprise you are actually on the boat for most of the day!!!!!!!!!!!(what did moaners expect on a Boat trip). The toilets on the boat we went on were immaculate, the staff helpful. We stopped at the caves for a photo opp, fantastic and then pulled in at a nearby beach so people (adults and kids alike)could jump from the boat in the beautiful clear blue water and have a swim. Then we headed for St Nicholas beach, where a bbq lunch was included in the price and 2 hrs of sunbathing time aloud. Then it was back to the boat and heading back to Zante town harbour. A fantastic day, a must see (dont listen to all the moaners out there)you will enjoy your day as much as we did!!!!!!!!!!!
ps. Take Flip flops!

Kalamaki Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Laura C

We stayed at Denny's in (july 04) and loved every minute, never bin to Greece or a Greek Island before, but will be returning. The Hotel was fab, the breakfasts were good, (dont listen to the moaners, what did they want an english fry up every morning)the whole point of going on holiday, is that, GOING ON HOLIDAY!!!!!!!
At the end of the drive you turn right onto Kalamaki beach, beautiful, clean and fantastic clear water. A very family friendly beach, with excellent sand, fantastic water and not a long walk from the hotel. 40 mins walk along the beach takes you to the resort of Lagana (didnt go, but was told it took 40 mins). A great walk along the beach (away from Lagana) took you to some fab taverna (Stani, Jepos)then a short walk to the other end of Kalamaki main street!!!!!
Fantastic holiday!!!!!!!!

Artemis - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Laura C  (13 August 2004)

This is the onlty taverna we came back to. The food was fantastic, service impecable, cudnt do more for us (a couple, not a big group)the house wine was cheap, delicious and cold, the meal was served within 10 mins of ordering, hot and delicious as well. Cant please all the moaners out there!!!
The guy standing outside was always polite (unlike some of the others from other bars and tavernas). The second time we went back, we were remembered, they asked how our holiday was going and were very friendly.
A must,definately go.
My boyf loved the baked feta for starters, tried it all over, here was the best. I suggest penne Artemis, yumyum!
