The Meeting Place - (Bars in Argassi)

Robert B  (21 June 2003)

sue and aggelos are two lovely people who give you a very warm welcome. very english in the menu and drinks that are available, but very greek in their hospitality.simply the best english breakfast in town. all food was served piping hot. if you want greek cuisine, you wont find any here, but for snacks or a light evening meal, nowhere better. treat yourself to the carbonara..and be warned..what sue calls a bacon roll, is actually a small loaf stuffed with bacon!!!we popped in most nights for a drink and a gossip. the prices were sensible. not fast food, but good food served as quickly as they can. thanks for a lovely time and good luck in your forthcoming nuptials sue and aggelos. see you again, rob and sonya

Seashell Studios - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Robert B

far better than libra show in the brochure. smack on the beach with great views of zante town, the sea and mainland greece on the horizon. our room was on the west side which meant hot sun through till about 8 o clock in the evening on our balcony, followed by a grandstand view of the sunset. free sunbeds and umbrellas for residents. a fan is essential in the room, as we found it exremely hot by night..nikos and maria are really lovely people..maria never stops laughing..something she has passed on to her daughters..friendly to the last, and any little glitches encountered are dealt with with a smile..no need to moan and complain, just ask and it is sorted..nikos will book apartments direct at very reasonable prices. a lovely quiet central location, i wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. not the ritz, just simple, clean, basic greek, self catering apartments with good food and drinks available till early evening. recommended.

Edem - (Restaurants in Argassi)

situated on the back road, well worth seeking out. appears to be run by a family. very friendly..maybe one of the few eating places that is close to offering greek cuisine..the steak and chips, chicken nugget brigade should stay away. very relaxed surroundings with no traffic noise, we prefered to sit further back in the restaurant away from the trees, sometimes odd things dropped from the trees onto the table which was a bit disconcerting. the food however was super, if a little tepid for some tastes, vegetables are served warm, not hot. would eat there again no problem.

Erato - (Restaurants in Argassi)

a very smooth guy welcomes you in, the waiters are a mix of very friendly and downright miserable. the food however, was very good but not the cheapest. service ok..watch out for the 'free nescafe coffee' trick,,it happened to me, and it did make me smile!!overall not bad, but nothing exceptional.

Piccadilly - (Restaurants in Argassi)

the food was excellent, when it eventually arrived. must be the only place that does not serve house red by the carafe, which means you pay quite a bit more for a bottle of very ordinary red wine. perhaps we caught them on a bad night, there were many local greeks eating there, which is normally a good sign, but i think the service to the rest of us suffered as a result. our meal is the main event of the evening for us, we are not in any hurry, but waiting nearly an hour from the time you place the order to actually eating, was a little too long for us, especially when you can smell it and your hungry!!the end result was we never tried it again..shame!!!!

Ilision - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Robert B

the food was really good, the actual service good, the prices were very good. they offer as near to authentic greek cuisine as you will get in argassi. the down side on the night we ate there was the total lack of atmosphere!!i know the town was very quiet, and it must be very boring when you have set your stall out and you only have a handful of diners that evening, but that means perhaps you have more time to chat to your customers! try it, you never know..however, the food was good, even though we crept away, leaving the bill and payment on the table, just in case we disturbed someone....

never ate here, just used it as a bar when jessie the zany karaoke guy was there on fridays. he works so hard to entertain and he's no spring chicken!!a great place for recovering alcoholics..damn nearly impossible to get a drink!!!

Libra Holidays - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Robert B  (21 June 2003)

any problems we had were not down to libra..we got what we paid for plus far better accomodation than we thought...the airport is a disaster..marginally the worst experience to date..but a lovely time awaits you once you complete the arrivals experience..you have to do worse than that to put me off!!
