St Denis Apartments - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Caroline F

We came back from the St Dennis Apartments last Sunday (18th Aug). Apartments were very nice as was the pool and gardens. The attached Supermarket was handy and the prices were the same as everyone elses on the resort. George who runs the supermarket is also responsible for "housing" you and sorting out your safety deposit boxes, fans and currency exchange. He was very helpful and friendly. He speaks excellent English and is your very own Michael Fish, reporting daily on the temperature!!! The only critisism we make is the breakfast facility. We booked B+B and was disappointed at what we were offered. We hoped to be given a choice, especially cooked English, but only were entitled to a roll, a portion of jam and butter, a glass of squash and a tea or coffee!!!! Not exactly mouth watering. You could buy an English breakfast and the cost of the "Continental"(???) ould be deducted. Also by booking B+B, we forfeited any Self Catering facilities. We only had a fridge, kettle, cups and saucers, teaspoons, knives (no forks or spoons) and side plates. So if you decided to Do It Yourself for brekkie, you couldnt!!! Didnt spoil our hol though. The Rep, Charlie, was fabulous. Very friendly. Was always on site on time and on the days she said she would be. Maid service was very good. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Zakfari Jeep Safari - (Zante Excursions)

Caroline F  (24 August 2002)

BUSES AT THE WRECK DAY. Hi Everyone. This trip is a must. The only way to visit the sites on the island. Better than stuffy old coaches. Paul the guide is great. His local knowledge and humourous stories really make the trip. The drivers are excellent. Our kids loved the off-road bits the best. All I can say is "Watch out for that tree!" Also, by the way Paul, thank you very much. Thanks to your information, I am now a single parent of 2 daughters since my husband has now left me to return to Zakynthos and become a priest!!!! You have to have been on the trips to know about this!!! Wished I had taken a photo of the cave with the horse in it now. Would like to have searched for some of the other characters!!! It was a shame we couldnt visit the Sulphur Springs but visited the Cave Monastry instead. It was fascinating!!! Thank you once again to Paul, James and Adonis for a fabulous day out of our holiday. The photos are fantastic and especially the one viewing at the Shipwreck which you took of the 4 of us Paul. It is now in a frame on our lounge wall!!!!

Levante Speedboat Trip - (Zante Excursions)

Caroline F

CAPTAIN SPIROS SPEEDBOAT TRIP Dont go visiting the Shipwreck or Blue Caves any other way!!! This speedboat trip was fantastic. You can see Spiros return into Tsilivi harbour at around 130. You cant miss him, speeding across the waves, hooting and waving like crazy to everyone. The advantage of going on this trip is that it is a smaller boat compared to the bigger cruisers (around 24 people) so no getting cramped. It is open topped, so no getting stuffy. It is faster, making for a better more exciting ride and also reaching the sites before the bigger, slower boats and therefore having the "wreck " to ourselves for the photos. This boat is also able to enter the caves, unlike the bigger ones where you need to get off into a smaller boat to gain access. Also, Spiros is a character in himself. He obviously takes the upkeep of his boat, LEVANTE, very seriously and is very experienced in his ability to "drive" it and in his knowledge of the island. Think some of the stories were little porkies though!!!! Good entertainment too!!! He was good with our kids too. He even allowed them up to the steering wheel and had a good 5 to 10 minutes steering. The little taverna we stopped at for lunch was very nice too. Thank you Spiro and crew (sorry dont know his name!) for a lovely trip. Hope this does the trick!!! This trip may work out a bit more expensive than the other boat trips, but what I say is, "You get what you pay for!"

St Nickolas Beach Diving School - (Diving in Zante)

Caroline F

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!! This was my first ever scuba dive and my daughters too. She is only 12 and I was a little concerned about her safety. NO NEED!!! Those instructors were brilliant. They took things at our pace. You really felt safe in their hands. The only disappointment was the fact that we couldnt have a copy of the video as the poor guy burst his eardrum earlier in the day and couldnt film any more. We were gutted. Would have been a lovely keepsake. We did buy the photos though, but a film footage would have been nice. Beach bar bit pricey. We took our own picnic. I also feel that the free trial scuba dive in the apartment pool the week before was the deciding factor on us doing the dive. I have contemplated doing one before in Corfu, but was worried in case when I got there, I wouldnt be able to do it. By having a go in the pool first (and not losing any money if you decide its not for you) is a good idea. Keep up the good work guys (and gal!)

Dundeez - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Caroline F  (24 August 2002)

HI GUYS (and mum!) Your bar is great! We came back again and again. My 2 daughters begged us to take them in for the last cocktail of the night every night!!! They love your Barrier Reefs but more so the Straw Throwing sessions!!! The youngest was very flattered at your giving her a rose!!!! She is only 10!!!! Hubby loved the football on telly in the early evening. How you fellas make a profit with all the straws thrown on the floor, free cocktails and shots is beyond me!!! Keep up the good work and dont get sane!!!!!!!

Family Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Caroline F

This was our first nights meal which was then followed by a few more!!! The food is delicious. Varied menu and good prices. The waiters were very friendly and good with our 2 daughters. The meal to try is the House Special Baked Spaghetti. It is to die for!!!!

Nefeli.. - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Caroline F  (24 August 2002)

Dont know why this place only scores 6 out of 10. We ate there twice and both times the meal and service were excellent. It was never packed or over busy. Dont know why. Still we had 2 delicious nights meals there. The Zakynthian Chicken was very tender and tasty but my favourite dish was the Beef Stifado. The guy on the door was really friendly. Only thing that might put some people of going into his restaurant was the way he crossed the road beckoning you in!!! But not in an over the top way. It didnt bother us, but some people dont like it. Both nights we were in there to eat, he gave us a free carafe of wine (our choice red or white) and also bought the girls free ice cream for sweet.

The Pine Tree - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Caroline F  (24 August 2002)

This restaurant served us delicious food. Cant understand the ratings on this site. I would have rated it much hirer than 3 out of 10. The only thing if I had to moan, was the time it took for the meal to arrive. But then in Greece, everything takes that little bit longer. It was well worth the wait.

Olive Tree - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Caroline F

We went here on the recommendation of our apartment neighbour. They were right, the food is excellent. Beef stifado comes VERY highly recommended!!!! Bit more pricey than your average restaurant but worth it. Would have gone back again and again but like to try different places.
