Amoudi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

I am writing this as a self confessed anti "Brits Abroad" anal retentive, we don't go on holiday to sit around a swimming pool drinking all day have no interest in East Enders and prefer a Greek holiday to be ..well Greek. We stayed at Kozanos 2 in the last week of May with our 20 month old toddler. The aparments were OK but the non appearance of the requested cot threw us, apparently the apartments do not have any cots so if you need one take a travel cot, this probably applies to all JMC apartments in Amoudi. Amoudi itself is a gem, a handfull of tavernas 2 supermarkets, a souveneir/ newsagent type shop, 2 tour offices and a car/bike hire outfit. The locals couldn't be nicer and the food at the 3 places we tried very good and reasonably priced (meal for 2 with a couple of beers around 30 euros,£20). No buses and the taxis on strike meant hiring a car, once again reasonable at £45 for 3 days. If your walking there are plenty of lanes to meander down and a nice quiet beach with fine gently sloping sand. The beach is a bit narrow but the most people we saw on a 100 metre stretch of it was about 8. I am not usually given to going to the same place twice (all the islands deserve to be investigated) but I would consider going back to Zante and Amoudi, it was certainly the pick of the resorts if you want the quiet life. The only other place I would consider from the places we visited was the village at the southern tip (sorry the name escapes me). On the whole I would highly recommend Amoudi.

Kozanos Hotel - (Accommodation in Amoudi)

Late May 02. Rooms OK but sparsley furnished, Selection of Crockery/ Cooking utensils laughable (They obviously want you to eat at the snack bar). Plumbing no surprises. Beware if traveling with an infant, they do not have any cots, you will be given a camp bed to put between the 2 single beds. Swimming Pool clean and kept that way. Can't comment on the food from the snack bar but others seemed to like it. The Camelot bar on the other side of the road can get a bit noisy but closing the windows keeps most of it out(and the mosquitos who particularly like the tast of our daughters blood, be warned take sprays and those plug in jobbies). We liked Amoudi very much but if we were to return, would probably opt to stay at different apartments.

Amoudi Taverna - (Restaurants in Amoudi)

I can't recommend this place too highly. Whilst the food was good it wasn't the best you can get but it was in my mind the pick of the places in Amoudi. What made the place special were the owners/waiters. We ate there with our 20 month toddler who they kept entertained and fed all evening. If your travelling with small children this is the place to go. One couple who had a child of about 18 months had just received there meal when the child started to act up (why do they do that?), one of the waiters (Andreas) stepped in to take the child off in its pushchair for about 20 minutes to let the parents and the rest of us eat in peace. Now thats what I call service. The menu is good with an excellent selection of mainly greek dishes. The seafood is very good and is to be prefered to the meat dishes. 10/10
