Fanari

Restaurants in Laganas

Emma S  (27 July 2003)

We have just come back from holiday and ate at the Fanari restaurant twice. The food was excellent on both occassions and the waiters were very helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our food and they couldn't do enough to help us. I can't understand why some people didn't like it and complained about cover charges. You pay cover charges in every restaurant and it is clearly shown on the menu what you pay!I would recommend the Fanari to everyone.

Gary B  (17 July 2003)

great place for a relaxing meal with the family. we tried it a few times and it was one of our favourites. we were always made very welcome by the staff and overall no complaints ,we'll be back!

Joanna S  (17 July 2003)

i had a really nice meal lamb with spaghetti but my boyfriend wasnt impressed however there were really nice fountains near by but we did get forgotton about a bit. we were right by the horses so it was a bit off putting especially when a greek man started pulling out a horse's willy to do a wee luckily we finished eating then

Takis P  (15 July 2003)

well what can i say, this place is well worth a visit! good food good service and great on the eye. surrounded by fountains and a relaxed atmosphere, typically greek ! give it a go you wont be disappointed. we've been on numerous occasions over the past few years and its a big favourite! vasilis is probably the most complete waiter we have met nothing too much trouble! 10/10 try the peppered steaks mmmmmmmm!!!

Neil M  (15 July 2003)

This restaurant if you can call it that was a joke, I think it is
twinned with another restaurant called Relax. The service was poor,
they barely understood English which made ordering difficult, the
food took ages to arrive and when it did it was horrible, I had
squid for starters which was as chewy as a car tyre, I did ask for
mayonaise to try and give the squid some flavour but it never came.
The main wasn't much better, Steak fillet a la creme, the steak was
overcooked and the a la creme was what I can only imagine to be
powdered milk. There was eight in our group and no one enjoyed their
food.

Lesley R  (08 July 2003)

Loved it hear. Great food and good service and value for money. Worth going

Louise K  (16 June 2003)

The food here was good but my partner didnt get very excited about it and not if you are sat against the next restaurant's kitchen, this totally spoilt our meal as it was hot enough with this extra heat beaming at us!

Julie M  (10 June 2003)

We ate here twice, good value for money and the food was excellent

Julie G  (24 May 2003)

WE ATE HERE ABOUT 4 TIMES, NICE FOOD. I WAS PAYING 30 EURO FOR TWO 3 COURSE MEALS AND A LOAD OF DRINK!! NOT BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simon H  (18 May 2003)

THE SPECIALS BOARD HAD SOME REAL OFFERS I HAD SWORDFISH AND IT ONLY COST JUST OVER £2, EXCELLENT VALUE

Louise G  (13 May 2003)

Great food - great prices on the "specials" - meal for £2.50!! Definatley worth a visit.

Hayley J  (18 April 2003)

Fanari's was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. I went to Laganas with my best buddy Laura in July 2002 + we had some great times at this restaurant. The food was fantastic + so were the waiters (especially Jotis!!) Well worth a visit :)

Claire J  (12 April 2003)

We were persuaded to eat here by the waiters who dragged us in off the street!! We're glad we did as the meals were lovely, esp the lasagna. Service was good for saying it was Aug and all the staff were friendly!! Got to know the waiters and went clubbing with them, but then so did every female that visited the island i think!! Overall a great place to eat in a relaxing setting.

my boyfriend and i eat in this restaurant every night! The food was lovely especially the potatoes!! The staff were very friendly. You did wait quite a long time for the food but this is the same where ever you go in greece because that is their way of life definatley worth a visit!!!

Lisa C  (24 November 2002)

luv u all!

David   (28 October 2002)

We went in the very last week of the season and whilst most places were struggling to provide fresh fish, Fanari came out tops and it was lovely. A bit pricey and a long wait, but good all the same. George the waiter is quite fit too ;-)

Donna & Martin  (09 October 2002)

We thought the food here was above average although the service left a lot to be desired. We waited around 20 minutes for the starter and 1 hour a 30 minutes after placing order finally got our main course. If you like to wait around a lot then by all means go to this place - if your ravenously hungry go elsewhere!

David M  (29 August 2002)

We ate here 2 or 3 times in our 2 week holiday. Each time the food was good, the service was good and the price reasonable. Their greek dishes (especially Kleftiko) were really good. According to the other half the waiters were the best looking of all the restaurants we ate in, though our daughter thinks the Ionian Sea's were cuter. The cover charge was cheaper than most (and EVERY real restaurant had a cover charge in Laganas) and was on the menu easiliy visible

Paula J  (21 August 2002)

If you've got all night to spare then this restaurant will be OK for you. We waited 30 mins for our starters and then a further hour for our main courses. We opted out of desserts.

Fanos K  (16 August 2002)

This was THE BEST restaurant me and my girlfriend Janella went to in our 2 weeks in Zante, so good we went there 3 times overall. Service was superb all very friendly and the food was delicious, made a refreshing change to get asked if you want chips, roast potatos or jacket potatos. As i said the best place to eat on the resort!!!

Mark P  (14 August 2002)

Dinned in the Fanari resturaunt after the waiter talked my family and I into coming in after he had showed us the special deals. Firstly the meal did not contain what we asked for and even after informing the waiter they did not apear to be interested. On getting the bill we noticed that 4 Euros had been added to the bill as a cover charge. This equated to 1 euro each for the table cloth, bread and candles that I hasten to add where not even lit. Due to the bill being in Greek, I asked the waitor to explain what was what exactly. He informed what the 4 euro charge was for and promptly / abruptly walked away shouting " it's just a cover charge" I, my family and another astonished English family all felt that we had been tricked into this restaraunt. I would strongly recomend that you do not visit this resturaunt at the end of the Kalamaki road and the corner where the main Laganos shops are especially if you have a family and you would like to know exactly what you are paying for prior to entering over their threshold.

Lisa C  (02 July 2002)

good food at a reasonable price, loved there roast potatos. Good friendly service, have kept in touch with vasilis and george. went clubbing with them, yorkis, timos and christine who all work there too. Zoe G  (01 July 2002)

Best food in Laganas. Went there quite a few times. Large selection of food. Good service and its reasonably priced. And, you actually get a choice of chips, roast potatoes or jacket spuds.

Sarah L  (25 June 2002)

though this was quite nice, food was lovely and we were always pleased with the service.

Carrie R  (18 June 2002)

We ate here and the food was very nice. The service was good. We met George the waiter and are still in touch with him. Went out on our last night with him and got some wicked photos.

Clair B  (17 June 2002)

Hi, I think that Fanari is a great place to eat. The food was great and the waiters were friendly! Me and my family got on with all of the waiters. They always talked to us and made us laugh. Me and my sister even went to the beach with them a few times! I'm still in touch with George, Vasalis and Alex. Their the best waiters in Zante.

Jayne B  (20 May 2002)

Nice food but had to wait ages (over an hour). A bit pricey but nice just the same

Chris H  (12 October 2001)

mixed opinions about this place between our group.....most complained about the amount of food we were given (ie there wasn't enought) even though we aren't troshers and the price was steep....however, of what little food we were given it was of very good quality. Service was pretty slow compared to other places we visited, however we did go a little later in a busier time.

Iestyn   (18 September 2001)

One of the best restaurants we visited. The food was excellent as was the service. Watch out for the waiters who look extremely like Jean Claude Van Dam and Stephen Gaitley (of Boyzone fame)!

Ei   (03 August 2001)

Were v rude to us when we had to leave early cos friend was ill and charged us a bomb for the bread & water we had.

Lindsey   (14 July 2001)

Very good restaurant, excellent cooking.

Ian C  (11 July 2001)

Loved it here - the food was presented, cooked and tasted superb. No waiting around for waiters like in other restaurants (eg Ruby's)

Paul G  (11 July 2001)

The food was very good. Although anywhere would be good compared to the Ionan sea.

Emma R  (10 July 2001)

Food was very poor and gave me and some friends an upset stomach.

Berti   (04 July 2001)

Good menu, nicely presented food. Far better than the Ionian Sea opposite.

Chris H  (05 June 2001)

Very nice - huge selection of different things (not the usual Kleftico, Stifado, Souvlaki, chips and thats-yer-lot) All 6 of us liked our meals We got free coffees (although we did tell them we were from an internet restraunt guide!)
