Nick H  (12 July 2008)        10/10

Just got back from my 12th holiday to Zakynthos! Cant wait to go back again! Lee is probably fed up of seeing me now lol!

If anyone is going this year, make sure you go to one of the quiz nights (Tue & Thurs). It is completely free and a good laugh! All they ask for is if you can make a small donation to the Turtles, or if you like you can even sponsor a turtle like me and my girlfirend did!

Anyway if you do get to see this Lee, I said I was hoping to get back there in October but doesnt look like I will be able to now, but if not, im sure I will see you next year!

P.S - If you drink Strongbow like me......Lee's is the best pint on the island! Ha Ha

Nick.

How very wierd....a colleague asked me to look at this site and advise on the best places to go on Zante and I saw Al Sandros had an entry... It's been 8 years since I worked there. Hope you Lee and John and well and enjoying life still! Another blast from the past here eh! Claire Etridge x

James N (24 July 2007)

Hey Lee,

Hows it going?Blast from the past here!I just  stumbled across this message board and see that not only is Alsandros still up and running but your running it!!Its been 13 years since I was working in Kalamaki(Blue Lagoon/Zakynthi and even a stint in Alsandros if  I  remember right!!).Let us know what you've been up to.
All the best

Fay M  (11 July 2007)        10/10

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Kalamaki and definately recommend the carvery. You have a lot of choice and fresh vegetables which you don't really find anywhere else.

The waitress is also very friendly and approachable.

Have a beer in the pub too where they have live music and quiz nights which are great fun!

Julie G  (10 July 2007)        10/10

Recently came back from Kalamaki and what a good idea Lee!!! - opening the diner as the Kalamaki Carvery.  We've always loved the diner, but now that it's opened as a carvery it's even better - you can get a Sunday roast any day of the week and it's still the same lovely grub!! There was three choices of meat of which you could choose two and as much veg as you wanted, it was great.  Keep up the good work Lee.

Hope to see you again next year

Love Julie, Dean & Joseph

Carol H  (11 June 2007)        10/10

Spent lots of time here in the Alsandros, Lee (who never changes) still there doing his bit. Chilled out music and good conversation as always

Can't wait to return

Richie P  (15 May 2007)        10/10

Just like to say how deeply upset i am @ sheffield utd's relegation......

Not to worry Lee, will be looking forward to beating the blades home & away in the championship.

Have a great summer mate,

Richie

We are just back from Kalamaki after a two week stint and I have to say we were in some great bars, Tavernas and restaurants. But every night on the Island we kept getting drawn back to the coolest pub on the Island, 'Al Sandros'...

Lee and his staff couldn't have been any nicer to us...

If you go the Zante - rent a car, see the Island, but don't be surprised if you find yourself in Alsandro's on more than one night during your stay - The craic is mighty!

BTW Lee, we've got SERIOUS Genga withdrawl symptoms, so me and the Mrs' will see you guys again real soon...

The fire shows by the turtle people were amazing, Wish i was back there right now!

Marjory B  (31 May 2006)

We discovered this bar as we loved the diner next door. Last year we used to rate Mustang but not the same without Stuart. So we decided to give Al Sandros a try and so glad we did. Its got to be the friendliest bar in Kalamaki and Lee is great. Loved Dr. Allen (live music) who seems to play there 2 or 3 times a week. Great atmosphere as it was busy and the music was good and not too loud. Dont know why we didnt go there on our other visits as it really made our evenings.

Marjory B  (31 May 2006)

Just back from a great holiday in Kalamaki and I thought that of all the places we ate at Al Sandros Diner (next to Al Sandros bar) was the best. In fact we ate there most nights after we discovered it. The food is really well cooked and there is a big choice. Loved the lamb steaks and the home made pies and the Sunday dinner we had was excellent. Service was excellent with friendly English staff and good kids menu.

Tomas P  (19 April 2006)

The food was great, Kerry was a great waitress along with Debbie. After the meal we had some delious yogurt and honey then we went to the bar next door and there was a boy in a mask it really brightened up my evening. then we anoyed the p.a from the chinese restaurant who said he did pee-pee on his rice. other then that our holiday was brill

Nick S  (26 December 2005)

Al'Sandros Bar. What can I say? Lee's my uncle and Neil is a great fella. Out there for 6 weeks this year workin there and had the time of my life. Workin in the bar is great fun because of meeting all the great people and listenin to the brill music. I'm going back again next year for hopefully longer so if anyone who was there this year goes back next year, don't be a stranger.

See ya all soon

Natalie T  (27 October 2005)

We stayed in Kalamaki for 2 weeks on our honeymoon in September 2005 and this was our favourite restaurant. The food was excellent with everything freshly made, it was better than home!!I'd definately recommend their spaghetti bolognase and they do excellent deals where you can get two or even three courses for under 7euros!!  The staff were very friendly and you should definately give this one a try.

Natalie and Dusty

Ann R  (23 September 2005)

I would recommend this restaurant this to anyone who fancies a bit of home cooked food, Kerry is great she makes you feel very welcome and is very nice she makes you feel like you have known her for ages.
The food is cooked  well and I recommend. the yogurt and honey.
     Thanks To all

Claire R  (22 September 2005)

A big thank you to Kerry and all the chefs for looking after us. The food was superb and My mum was very impressed with the yogurt and honey. Kerry did a great job in convincing my mum to have it everytime.

The service was excellant and we can't wait to visit again.

Thanks

Claire R  (17 September 2005)

Al Sandros is such a chilled out bar, and the staff are really friendly.  This is located right by our apartments, but we didn't really notice Al Sandros until a few days into our holiday, as we used to venture out in to the main strip of bars, and we quickly got bored of these!  After that we went in there most nights.

While the bar was usually busy, it managed to maintain a chilled out and friendly vibe.  On the whole the music was pretty good, apart from the odd Bon Jovi track, but I can forgive them for that because they played RYAN ADAMS!!  Live music with Dr Allen was cool; Black Magic Woman, what a tune! We never took part in any of the quizzes, and I'm gutted about that and not even sure how we missed them.

If I ever go back to Kalamaki, which I probably will, I will definately pay Al Sandros a visit.  And the dog was well cute!

Gail D  (13 September 2005)

Hi Kerry & others,

Thank you for the lovely meals we enjoyed so much and the night time entertainment was very pleasant.  Hope we manage to get the breakfasts going to give extra custom.  It was nice to find a restaurant we liked which served english meals and the sauce on the chicken was lovely (Turkish chef).  Hope to see you again next year.  Love Gail & Barry from Manchester, United Kingdom

Carol H  (12 September 2005)

Well, just got back

We had a great time (3rd year running)
Lee....cheers for the loan of the cd player (well at least the radio worked)

Anyhow, i'd recommend a visit to anyone. See you sooner rather than later.

Kerry T  (23 December 2004)

we love this bar, lee and neil are the best. music and entertainment second to none, always a warm welcome. see you in june xxxx

Becca & Peter  (13 September 2004)

This bar is probably the best in Kalamaki! Lee is very friendly and always kept the bar open for us even when he wanted to close and go home! The music is good and it has a chilled out atmosphere!

George S  (07 September 2004)

We love this bar!!!! only Lee would let us go in his bar at four in the morning when he's waiting to go home! and let us nick Dr.Allen's guitar without him knowing!!! And he let us go in the mike and serve frozen Heineken behind the bar!!! make sure you visit this bar, it's brilliant!!

Ruth A  (22 August 2004)

Thanks you Lee, Alex and Neil for making our holiday special. This was the most friendly bar in the whole of Kalamaki. They show all the latest films, guess the year quiz, Dr Allen and his amazing music and a pool table which children become addicted too (well they do in our family). Hi to Jo with the previous comment who we met on their last night.

Jo T  (21 August 2004)

We've been going back since 2000, and have spent many a late night (early morning) here. We will be back to see them all in June05.
Fantastic music and good friendly people. see you soon Lee and Neil.

Dave K  (04 July 2004)

Walked past to hear some great sounds coming out, but didn't go in the first night.Went in next and every night after that - the reason is simple...good craic from Lee and Neil with the odd quiz and of course the unforgettable Dr.Allen.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and we spent many late nights propping up the bar.
If you read this Guys, thanks for making our holiday a great one. We'll certainly be back!!

Lesley B  (27 June 2004)

lee is the loveliest man, looking forward to seeing you in september, great music, great quizzes and entertainment, great bar xxx

Margaret B  (15 October 2003)

For the very first time this October I visited Al Sandros Bar with my Roumanian friends Andreas and Anna. I introduced myself to Lee who already new me by site because I have stayed in Kalamaki 5 times now and I am ashamed to say never called in for a drink. What a brilliant atmosphere and live music. Lee always has time to chat and smile no matter how tired or busy he is. Brilliant Lee! Thanks a lot and see you next year.

Jeanette C  (09 October 2003)

Still the best bar in Kalamaki with Lee and now Neil (oh boy do they know how to make decent cocktails too - I still have the hangovers as proof!!). Fat Dog is adorable and Dr Allen is a great singer. Open till very late too so even better. Can watch footie all night in there too :) Spent many a happy night propping up the bar and as Arnie will say (but not for much longer!!) I'll be back!

Joe J  (30 August 2003)

Lee is a great bloke and likes to have fun. Fat dog is still there doing nothing. any one who is going make sure to put money in the dog tin. Dr. Allen stills play there and still sounds good. Any one who vists Lee tell him the Johnsons say hi.

Campbell S  (05 August 2003)

Last in Kalamaki in 1999.Lee and the crew there then were great. I was so glad to read that Lee is still there running one of the best bars in Kalamaki since we are going back there later this month. Can't wait to see everyone again. Does anyone know what happened to Dave the Dog? He used to regularly visit us at Antonis apartments!

Rob T  (07 June 2003)

forgot to say that we miss fat dog:(
robbietownsend@yahoo.co.uk
El Fez rules o.k.

Rob T  (07 June 2003)

i spent 2 weeks at kalimaki in the 1st 2 weeks in may and spent the whole 2 weeks in Al Sandros. I went in there because i heard the best music along the main drag. Lee (the propieter) is a top bloke with a wide and varied range of topical conversation. The bar itself has a central location within its compound. If you get the chance to experience live music at Al Sandros you won't be dissapointed as the right reverend Dr. Al has fine nacht to playing all the old classics accomponied by a beautiful harmonius singing voice. I have to say i had a top holiday there. Everyone Jo and I met made our holiday, but the pinnacle was Al Sandros.
A message to Lee. We shall meet again:)

Rob'n'Jo;)

Leanne R  (06 February 2003)

great bar, great drinks, great atmosphere and great time!!
lee get things ready for another great season and an even crazier leanne see you all from april!!!

Prithi B  (07 October 2002)

Great bar Lee! Had a brilliant time in Kalamaki, made all the better by visiting Al Sandros everynight. Dr Alan (+ Jan) was fantastic. Only sorry I'm still not there!

Dawn   (06 October 2002)

If you want deafening music and crowded dance floors - Al Sandros is not for you. However, if you want a relaxed atmosphere, good company, good music and lots to drink, Al Sandros is the place to go. Look forward to next year and seeing all my friends - old nad new - again.

Jeanette C  (02 October 2002)

A brill bar to get drunk in every night :) Lee is a great chappy with a decent taste in music and does some fine cocktails. In fact spent majority of the time propping up the bar (well you have to don't you?!)and within staggering distance of the hotels. See you next year Lee. Hic!

Mikaela H  (26 June 2002)

lee is cool we had the best nights in al sandros open till all hours playing the best tunes and having the greatest fun but relaxed atmosphere, we lived and worked inzante and i did one shift for lee and he was fantastic and very genorous. we found this bar to be well one of our fav's and lee if ya remeber mikki and charlie from the summer 98 g'day sport and we'll be back very soon!!! xxxxxx

Lesley B  (25 October 2001)

Good little bar with a great atmosphere, go here once and Lee will remember you forever, the man has a photographic memory!. Good quizzes and a lot of laughs

Pam R  (22 October 2001)

Great bar, brilliant music, especially enjoyed gig by Dr John.Very relaxed atmosphere, thank you to Lee and Monika and Fat Dog and especially thanks to Lee for the mugs of coffee! Hope to see you next year.

Mary Y  (12 October 2001)

Good relaxed atmosphere. Good quizzes and music nights.

Alison G  (05 October 2001)

Good quizzes, good music, nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and NO football. Look out for the cats and dogs box, your spare change and small notes go to a good cause, helping the local strays

Tobes   (28 September 2001)

Al Sondros - great bar with english speaking hosts. Lee (owner) always smiling smugly, but thats the only expression you'll ever get out of him. This guy is LAID BACK!!!! Pretty bar maids, good music, and games to play (chess, draughts, etc). Sadly no Pub Jenga this year, but made up for by the live music which we had a hand in this year too, thanks to Dr Allen (the oldest hippy on the island). Drinks are a bit pricey, but playa gig and free beer will be yours...

Charlie B  (28 September 2001)

Once again ended up doing the rounds pretty much every night at Al Sandros. Managed to play a gig there to with Dr Allan. Great times had by all, even if sometimes me and Tobes ended up playing very drunk chess for hours(assited by Dave the dog). Lee ended up playing the Al sandros e.p few times aswell.

Charlie B  (10 September 2001)

Well what can I say?, Been to Kalamaki Twice and going again tonight, always end up starting off the evenings in Lee's Joint (Al sandros) even wrote a song about it, Ask Lee to play it to you!!. As mentioned before great staff, good beer, Dave the dog, Pub Jenga. Many a night started off hazy with the free sambuca's in this place. Highly recommended.
