IM GOING TO ZANTE ON 5TH OCTOBER FOR THE FIRST TIME IS THE WEATHER STILL OK THEN???

Lesley S

Marinos Studios is a bit of a walk out of Laganas, in a quiet street behind the main road. We have not stayed there, but our son did a couple of years ago and loved it. Has a small pool, and a lovely bar. The owners are very friendly, in fact we popped in for adrink when we stayed in Kalamaki last October. The weather when we were there last October was gorgeous, sunshine every day, but you will definitely need warm fleeces/sweatshirts and trousers for the evenings, down to 9 degrees one night we were there.Have a good time!

Sam & Peter

we went to alykes last october and it was okay!   we usually go at the end of may beginning of june but the weather was really warm, although quite cool in the evenings, there were however, quite afew mosquitoes and lots of rats, as there weren't as many cats about for some strange reason!  Rat Cat 3 Fly Swatter

Carolyn F

we have been to alykanas in both sept and oct and find that remors can happen at any time.its just one of those things.the weatehr can be unpredictable too.last year was the best two weeks of sunshine we have ever had.went 1st oct and only had rain the night b4 we went home, but it rained ALL NIGHT LONG. werent bothered as going home.will definately book again for the same time.

There were 30 of us in our group and I think I am speaking for everyone when I say that the earth moved for us all, simultaneously, on October 18th. It was entertaining to hear the locomotive sized tea trolley hurtling down the marble corridor, followed by the floor shifting sideways and a giant shaking the bathroom door nearly off its hinges. I happened to be standing naked in the bathroom at the time having just had a shower.

Apparently these little tremors are quite common at this time of year; why don't they mention it in the brochures? It would add a little anticipatory spice to a holiday there and wouldn't put me off the place. The predominance of tavernas pandering to lager swilling Brits would discourage me far more. Happily, in October, most of those had already left.

Simon P

Well Leanne that's up to you if you don't want to go to Zakynthos again but it hasn't put me off.

A word of advice though,if you didn't like the tremors in Zakynthos then don't ever go to San Francisco! They are 10 times worse there!

By the way..."Saying" is not spelt with a "C"

Lauren S

we have been 2 zante b4 but always in july.however this year we went 4 half term in october. if we had known what is was going 2 be like we might not have come.everything was shuting down the place seemed deserted it was a totally differnt place than summer. most of the restaurnts were shut even the hotels were shut and the streets wer practically empty. towards the end of the holidays the people were shuting the places up arround you october is definatly the end of season and not the best time to go. however the only good thing is the weather was good. we still like zante but we would only go in summer when their is more going on.

James H

MY WIFE,SELF&SON HAVE JUST HAD 14 BRILLIANT DAYS(&NIGHTS) IN ARGASSI,PROBABLY OUR BEST HOLIDAY EVER.WEATHER HAS BEEN GREAT, MET SOME LOVELY PEOPLE,BOTH HOLIDAYMAKERS & RESIDENTS OF THE ISLAND.DON'T WANT TO GO ON ABOUT IT BUT HOLIDAY WAS FIRST CLASS BUT WENT TOO QUICK.

GOT TO MENTION EARTHQUAKE.YES THE FIRST ONE WAS SCARY,BECAUSE WE HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED ONE BEFORE...BUT PINNY MUST HAVE BEEN ON WACKY BACCA OR SOMETHING STRONGER COS IT WASN'T THAT BAD.MUST BE AFTER SOME COMPEN,BUT DON'T BE FOOLED.ATTENTION SEEKERS ALWAYS GET FOUND OUT.
   WE WOULD GO BACK TOMOORROW.
LOVE TO ALL NICE PEOPLE WE MET,YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE,
    JIM,NESSA& RYAN

Allan H

Arrived  home on the 6th October, weather not as good a previous years but that didn't stop us having our usual great time. We made some more new friends (Annette & Gordon), Julie & Ben, as well as all the gang, to many to mention. Stayed at the Dennis again for the last time, these apartments are very basic but have meet our needs, however this year standards were very poor & we noticed next year they are not in the brochure.

I stiil think it is a great time to visit Sept/Oct & is has not put us off going at that time of year again.  Next year I am going to look into the feasabilty off booking flight only & seperate acccomadation & compare as there seems no shortage of rooms Sept/ Oct.
P S Gary up & running again.

Sara H

we have just arrived back today 24th after a very diffrent week the weather was very nice for 5 days spent all day on the beach we all have a good tan to show off when we go back to work and school the earthquake was scarey but it was not as bad as the last message says it was 6.5 the 18 tremmors we had were not so bad you hardly felt them

we got married on friday and had a fab day  we were not going to let a small thing like a earthquake spoil our holiday

David &

We have just returned back from a week in Laganas.  Our third this year.

The weather was unsettled but most days we had sun, can be a bit chilly in the evenings though.
Some bars & restaurants were closed and some will be closing soon. Although there were still places to go to just not as many to choose from, Zeros & Rescues should still be going.  I know  La Bamba , and some of the bars down near the beach are closed but go further up the strip and it is still happening. The numbers of visitors have dropped alot since before September so the least number of bars get fuller than they would be.

Depends what you want from a holiday. Obviously it is not as lively as July / August!  It is great if you just want to chill!
We had a great time but then after  12 years going to Laganas we might be biased.

LUV IT!

Zoe H

ZANTE NEVER FORGETS THOSE THAT LOVE IT!

Iain W

I've been to Rhodes in 2nd week of October before but not Zante which is much further North. Rhodes (Lindos) was warm (as was the sea) but prone to occasional heavy rain and thunder storms. Mind you, when in Santorini September last year there was a very cold wind blowing for the whole week - so you take your chances!. Fingers crossed the sun will shine as visiting Zante for the first time on 9th October with my daughter for a week..................

Diane W

parkin, the weather last year in Zante was fantastic in the first week of October. We had hot, sunny days and in the second week the weather changed and hammered down with rain. During our first week we sat by the pool at the Villa Helena and sometimes had to wear a baseball cap because the sun was so strong. Then sit under a parasol. After the four days of rain and high winds my birthday turned out to be sunny all day. This year we are going out in three weeks time on October 10th to the 24th.

One trip I would recommend is the cruise around the fab coastline of the island. Wonderful. We visited the wonderful Smuggler's Cove.

things like what the weather is like, are there still a good amount of bars and restaurants open at that time of year. if anyone can help us out that would be great. thanks

Lauren S

i am going 2 zante in october 4 a week and i just wondered will it be warm? and is it still busy enough to meet people i have been a couple of times before but only in july.

Marie A

going to Zante in October we always go at the same time but to different Islands. One tip we picked up with regards to flies n wabbees - buy the cheapest greek coffee - usually in a green tinfoil bag.
Put a little mound of coffee onto a stainless steel container such as  an ashtray, strike a match n stick it in the coffee making it smoke / smoulder. the little darlings hate it n don't bother you.  However always make sure its a  steel ( tin ) container cos it gets boiling hot - keep kids away from it - n don't do what I did and use a normal ashtray which cracked quite loudly then exploded so no chance of pretending it wasn't me !!

Fritha S

Hi, my Boyfriend (19)  and I (17) are going to Argassi on October 14th. We are staying in Noula Studios and was wondering if anyone had gone to this particular area/apartments before and could give us any information as to what it's like there, and what there is to do? And if it is suited to a young couple like us??? Also is it easy to travel to other parts of the island such as Zante town without hiring a car as neither of us can drive!!!

Thanks, and can't wait!!
Frankie

Georgina C

Due to visit Zante in October (woo!), just a-wondering-I noticed on the site that an earthquake had hit in '53, I'm perhaps a little naive/dense, but anyway, is there much of a threat these days of earthquakes  there? (obviously I know it can never be ruled out completey!)

Thanks muchly in advance

Natasha -

laganas was excellent and still lively

Big T

We went to Tsilvi during the last week of October 2004. The weather was hot and sunny most of the time with a couple of thunderstorms. Swimming in the sea was excellent and the beach deserted. A very peaceful and relaxing holiday. So much so we are going again this October.  If you want to check out the weather look at www.wunderground.com

Simon P

  mel b (October 28, 2003)

Blimey Mel B...speak english for goodness sake!

Stephanie H

We went to Tsilivi 24th-31st October.Weather during the day was hot,we only had to skip the beach for one day in the week, because it wasn't sunny.Night time was comfortable to sleep, and the evenings only required a hoody or similar, as it did get a bit nippy.!!

Lynne C

Have just returned from a week here 21st -28th October, I was worried about the weather after looking on the net at various sites, but to my surprise it was as hot as May, there were a couple of storms, but these were at night, and on wednesday we had a couple of hours of rain. Altough it was end of the season a lot of shops were cutting right back on their stock, and it was very quiet which meant not a lot of waiting at places. The only down side was the amount of flies, you just could not escape them. But again a very enjoyable stay.

Pinny & Mike

October is very similar to May, weather wise. We stayed there from Oct 17th-26th 2004. We did hear that it had rained though the week before for 3 days. We also noticed that there were a lot of flies about in October (not so bad in May/June) which was a real nuisance when eating al fresco! The whole time we were there, the weather was excellent - sunny & hot, but very bearable.

Emma J

When i went to corfu in august it was far too hot. I couldnt stay out in the sun and enjoy my day because i nearly fainted! October was just the right time to go to greece. The weather was scortching in the day and i got a lovely tan! I found the temperature at night pleasent as it wasnt too hot that i couldnt sleep. It rained a few days while i was there but that was ok i just spent the day day shopping ;) It was still pretty busy in october so it gave us chance to meet new people... i had the best time of my life in argassi and i would deffinately go there again in ocrtober! (MISS EVERYONE WHO I MET THERE, HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON)

Sue, M

We stayed at the Mavrikos hotel from the 8th Oct to the 22nd 2004 and it was excellent yes the hill was a little tough but by the end of the hols it was no problem.
Firstly I would like to thank John and all the staff for all the help and service it was excellent 100%. And the rooms were great . Now the hols, weather was great nice and hot although we did have 4 days thunder storms it didn’t stop us doing anything and what a splendid storm it was too, eating out was great and the calypso was great staff friendly and nice, beach was great really good for the kids including the younger ones. Tsilivi was real nice clean and all the people were friendly prices was ok and you were never under any pressure to buy you could just walk round look and buy if you wanted to. And last of all Jean what a star a real asset to the mavrikos hotel a wealth of info and a friendly helpful person to everyone and we send our thanks. Overall an excellent holiday and we will return next year

Nichola C

Brilliant weather for small children, as pleasantly warm, but cool at night so they can sleep

Sarah B

Got back yesterday form a week in Kalamaki, bar two days the weather was scorching! Totally excellent holiday, not too busy, would definitely go again in October!!

Fiona S

just got back from laganas and would definately go in october again. it was scorching. and a lot less crowded. cheaper for sunbeds as well.
1st oct - 8th oct

Kelly P

hi me and my family are going to tisilivi on 8th october we are looking forward to a week away could anyone tell me if it will be good weather this time of month to get a suntan

Chris P

Haven't been hyet but going end of october. Hope the place isn't going to be shut. Anyone know if there is off shore fishing to be had locally to laganas?

Dave M

if anyone is wondering about weather for october in zante you can go to a website called wunderground type in zante at the top, then you can go to history and bring up temp recordings from last year and beyond for the whole hours of each day.looks like it can be still in the late 70,s ,it can only be warmer then england thats for sure at that time of year.

Fiona S

does anyone know if the weather is alright in october, we are going in the first week and im a bit worried that it wont be hot. if anyone has ever been in october could you please email me and tell me what to expect. cheers

Purple T

Arrived 2nd October and left 16th October and during this time only had one full day of rain with thunderstorms. Stayed in Tsilivi and only a couple of restaurants closed while we were there. Bars were open as late as you wanted and the service was outstanding (Ark Bar) The views to Kefalonia were superb as there wasn't the usual heat haze. Sea was warm enough to swim in, though did take a bit of getting used to at first. Evenings got a little chilly but nothing that a few good shots of Ursus couldn't cure!
Just keep thinking to yourself that you wouldn't get this weather at home in October and hey you're on holiday so make the most of being away from work!!!
I would definitely go back in October again.

Stephen C

we went from the last week in september and the first week in october
the second week we had one overcast day and one thunderstorm i would not have had a holiday past these days unless you want to take a chance however i looked at the weather reports recently and its still 25-29c not bad

Andy

As the season ends at the end of October, quite a lot of the restaurants were closing down. Weather also becomes unpredictable. We had two major thunder/lightning storms during our two weeks and other wet/overcast days. We still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Christine T

Great daytime temperatures (we stayed in Tsilivi from 10th to 17th October) cool when the sun went down. Most bars and restaurants were open and getting a table was no problem. Shops and bars were all offering discounts before they closed at the end of the season, but service and quality were all excellent. Discounts on excursions, car and bike hire were also widely available.

Andrea K

we came to argassi on the 13 of october for 1 week first few day red hot what a false sense of security it rained from the wedensday thunder storms cloudy really dull and over cast i would never come in october ever again.

Leanne F

Weather was nice and Argassi was quite busy when we arrived 25/09/03 but by the time we left 10/10/03 lots of places had closed for the season, we could see how much quieter resort was and was glad we hadn't left it any later. Restaurants were closing hand over fist and weather really was much cooler towards the end of our holidays.
Although there were loads of bargains to be had.
I would not go in October, but definately would do September again.

Sunny D

We stayed in Tsilivi from 6th to 13th October 2003, and it was great. The weather was hot and sunny every day apart from one day when there were thunderstorms; it was warm at night, and because the season was winding down many of the shops and restaurants had really good discounts. Also, because it wasn't crowded, you could get more personal service.

The sea was totally warm enough for swimming in, obviously it always seems cold when you first put your toes in but once you've got right in it's like swimming in a warm bath!

We went on various boat trips etc and apparently in the hotter summer months the views out to sea eg of kefalonia and the pelopponese are not as good then, but in october the air's clearer so you can see for miles.

Barbara L

Have just returned from a week at the Planos Apartments, Planos, Tsilivi (2nd-9th Oct 2003). Had a wonderful time, apartments were very nice with a very clean pool and lots of sunbathing area. Beach only minutes away, again very nice, not very big but very clean. Weather perfect, except for one bad day of storms. Evenings were still quite warm - days were just perfect. Plenty of very nice restaurants and bars. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Phil C

Any one coming to Zante in October will not be disapointed. Hot in the day warm in the evenings. You will love it.... Some people told me it might be cool in the evening but it was'nt. we when from the 2nd to the 9th Had one storm but still very warm

Rach

Margaret B

October is a better time of year to go to Zante for those who don't like the sweltering heat. It is still warm and sunny in the day time, but the sea is much cooler. The breeze is much fresher and the evenings can be very cool so that you will need to wear warmer clothes in the evenings with a jacket. Most of the restaurants are only half full so you will be eating inside rather than alfresco in the hotter months. I went late October just before the season ended last year. Unfortunatley, going so late everything was closing down and there weren't many shops, restaurants and bars still open for the last week. Also it was very dark to walk along the main street Kalamaki. Laganas was a little bit more busy and well lit. This year I have already been in June when it was extremely hot and difficult to sleep at night in the sweltering temperatures. I am going again and this time alone on September 25, hoping that the sea will still be warm enough for long swims and most places will still be open. Many of the trips are reduced in price at this time of year and discounts at many restaurants. The Lighthouse closed early last October and also Aphrodite Restaurant. I found the clear skies brilliant for photography without the haze you get in the hot summer months. I went on trips to Olympia and Athens and the weather was superb on both. Nice time to take young children because of the cooler temperatures. You can go for pleasant walks and cycle around too. Enjoy yourselves and plan to return in Spring next year.

Sara A

we all went in the summer and are goin back on oct 9th. went last year late sept and was very good. if uz are in kalamaki rose and crown is very good (my dad works there... brian)
if any teenagers (spesh single boyz ;)) are goin round bout the same time then give us an email! cheerz!

SARA PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT APPARTMENTS YOU STAYED IN. THANK YOU LYNNE.

Sara B

We went there in August 03 and i just felt that i had to tell everyone what a fantastic and freindly place the appartments and Tsilivi are. The appartment was great it was very central in the resort and surprisingly quiet for its central location, with the extremely hot weather in Zante we found that the appartments central location great. The pool area is fantastic for children and the pool side bar and snack bar is run by Anna and Joseph who at the end of your holiday, you will feel like they are one of your family. The appartments are basic but very clean and for those really hot days you can rent a fan to cool you down. The resort can be as busy and as quiet as you want it to be and is more of a family and couples resort than a roudy singles resort. We never found a bad resturant. The only down side of the holiday was that we only went or a week. Definately go there again. A picture of the appartments is in the Aspro brouchure. (going places have it)

Gill J

Neesha, K

We have just returned from Zante and are planning another trip for early October for a maximum of 10 nights. We would like to know what the weather is like at this time and if it is worth going then. Any information will be well received. Thanks

Lesley B

we have been in october before and if you dont like it too hot, then its ideal, might need a cardie for the evenings occasionally, the resorts are starting to wind down for the end of the season so lots of bargains to be had, it was nice but prefer june so we can see the turtles. face it people..anytime in zante is going to be good

Kath J

Hello to all of you going to Tsilivi, Zante in October. Try and visit Yannis at the 'Utopia' bar near 'Theos' bike hire and Yannis at 'Zante Palace'apartments pool bar. They will be glad to see you and make you very welcome. As you might have Guessed they are almost all called Yannis, pronounced Yanni - without the 'S'.

If you need and more imfo, check out my 'Top Tips' below.

Have a great time.
