Villa Denise Apartments

Accommodation in Argassi

Janet K

Last year we went to Villa Denise with my partner's daughter and her boyfriend. We had one of the two top floor apartments - there were two twin and one double bedroom, there was a fabulous terrace outside the main bedroom and also one of the twin rooms, and a small balcony outside the kitchen. It was more like a Swiss chalet in its design, and the views were stunning. Very quiet location but very convenient also. Air conditioning in the main bedroom only but we hired fans for the kids.

The kids were 16 at the time and it was safe enough for them to go and do their own thing, also the Villa Denise does pool-side snacks so they could get reasonably priced food and drinks without venturing out if they did not need to.

'Sid' was great fun chucking melons at us in the pool and the whole place was very clean, friendly and they couldn't have been more welcoming.

Argassi beach is OK but very narrow, but still very pleasant.  Nothing like Tsilivi beach though.

Simon P

Hi again folks.

Just booked a week at the Villa Denise for october 17th.I can't wait to see Dennis,Maggie and all my friends again.
No bloomin' earth tremors are going to put me off I can tell you that for nothing!

Simon P

Had a great holiday at the Villa Denise...as I usually do.

Maggie and Dennis are like my second parents as they look after me as if I was part of their family.Nothing is too much trouble for them and I look forward to going again next year.

Only down side to this visit was the earth tremours! Though I got used to them after a while!

Simon P

See you all  tomorrow folks!

Simon P

October the 18th will be my next visit to the Villa Denise Apartments.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Helen & Paul

we have just got back from the villa denise apartments and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.  we have fallen in love with argassi and vd and will definately be coming back.  i cried when i left !!

denis, maggie and vicky are wonderful kind people and such good sports.  not forgetting andy the fc rep, always up for a laugh  (with his trainers off - of course).  the villa has a warm and friendly atmosphere, everyone knew everyone.  one day everyone was in the pool playing ball, after denis had hosed everyone down, was hosed back and even tossed in the pool, he then tossed in water melons, chopped them up and shared them around. the bbq evening was really nice, loads of food, good value for money as was the food that was serverd throughout the day.

our room overlooked the olive groves and pool (room 11), we could not have asked for a better room. it was airy, clean and spacious.  (we shall request that room next time)

finally, just to say we would recommend the villa denise to anyone, we loved it xxxxx

Caroline M

In repsonse to Sian McCarthy's comments below, I don't know where she stayed but it certainly was not Villa Denise. The apartments are spotless and were cleaned regularly when we stayed there last year. We had no trouble whatsoever with drainage system or anything else with the apartments! As for dogs - what dogs, there were no signs of dogs.  Maggie and Dennis are always in the vicinity of the apartments.  Dennis regularly maintains the pool & pool area, and Maggie is always about.  We are really looking forward to going back to see them.

Caroline M

We are returning to Villa Denise in a couple of weeks.  We went in July last year and had an excellent time.  Denis and Maggie are a lovely couple.  The apartments are clean with fantastic views from the balcony.  Does anyone know how much it is to hire the air conditioning?

Rob K

FANTASTIC

I didn't even know until 30 minutes before leaving - who Dennis & Maggie actually were (they are that unassuming). All those that spent time round the pool bar certainly did though.

If you want lots of amenities or resplendent furnishings go elsewhere.

If you want a nice apartment with great views of the sea, a spacious private balcony with enough room for 4 chairs and a table - not to mention the charm of Dennis & Maggie, then Hotel will do you just nicely.

And for those of you that cannot get on without the constant advice or encouragement that only a rep can provide... then you will not do any better than Andy (a real dude).

Kelly S

FANTASTICAfter The Best Two Weeks Ever Here Suddenly Back to Reality. These apartments were Excellent, clean, Very Spacious and Very Friendly People(Dennis & Maggie) Also Our RepFirst Choice Andy(PARTY POOL BOY) . We also Met Some Very Special People Here. We Have A Ten Year Old Son Who Loved it so Much He Cried on Leaving. Look Out Dennis we will be back in May 2006...... By the way the Party Pool Rep is the Guy with the Beer(Yammas)

Paul W

I've just got home after the best holiday in years, my self my wife and son stayed at the villa for 2 weeks and didnt want to leave, Dennis and Maggie are fantastic Dennis appears with a hose and soaks everyone then maggie pushes him in the pool, remember the both of them are in their late 60s. The first choice rep Andy is superb as well letting all the kids push him in the pool all day long he even comes to the villa when he's not working to chat and have fun with everyone. I cant say enough about the 3 of them you just dont want to leave. I wish everyone was like Dennis, Maggie and Andy, keep it up guys and we will see you in september.

We have just returned from a weeks self catering stay in Villa Denise and loved every minute. The apartments are cleaned twice a week are light and airy. Ours (no 12) was more  roomy than our friends with a large balconey overlooking the pool and the sea, surrounded by flowers and an olive grove. The owners are very friendly and kind. Pool is small but not many rooms in total so not usually many at the pool anyway. Food and drink available all day til 6.00 and its v. nice! Zakynthos is a beautiful island and would recommend hiring a car. Restuarant at kampi is a must for a clear evening to watch the sunset.

Argassi beach is not very good so don’t stay there if you just want to walk to local beach everyday, but there’s plenty others if you venture out. Lots of lovely restaurants in argassi to choose from and friendly owners.

Oh and don’t worry about earth tremors, they get them frequently and the buldings are built to withstand them and more…. Hey no problem!!!

Wonderful time, would go back. (maybe when new airport is finished as that was only downer, queing in sum for 1-2 hours with only extortionate food and drink for sale..!)

John S

My wife, daughter and I stayed at Denise appartments last year in June and had a really good holiday, the rooms were large and clean and we were made very welcome by all the family, Vicky gave us an e'mail address as denisevl@otenet.com so we could gat in touch to book for this year but we have not been able to make contact, does anyone have a contact e'mail address for denise apartments that they can pass on. Many thanks, John Scott.

Simon P

OK Everyone at the Villa Denise....see you tomorrow evening!

Tina B

can you help i have never been abroad before and with mixed comments about the apartments i am worried . i have a 3 bedroom apartment and also children with me what is it really like. thanks tina

Simon P

...and just to prove how great the Villa Denise is,I have booked for a week in may and october 2005!
I can't wait to see everyone's faces when I turn up in Argasi in may as I don't usually go at that time of the year.

sfparton@yahoo.co.uk

Simon P

Well I spent my usual holiday at the Villa Denise last month and it was excellent as usual.Dennis and Maggie were the perfect hosts and I was treated on many occasions to a Greek Coffee and also a few meals at the poolside.
Sian you are obviously working for a rival Hotel/Apartment block and don't want people to stay at the Villa Denise as there was absolutely no sign at all of the Dogs barking or urinating in the pool or the Chickens that you mentioned. The room I stayed in was spotless and was cleaned twice during my visit, there was no sign of any stinking drains like you mentioned either.
You say you didn't see Dennis and Maggie? Did you look? They are in room number 3.
Altogether it was a great holiday and I am going to see if I can book to go there in May and October next year.
sfparton@yahoo.co.uk

Simon P

Only a few hours until I am in Zakynthos again.Looking forward to meeting you all at the Villa Denise.

Simon xXx

Simon P

Blimey Sian...you must have stayed in a different Villa Denise than I have been staying in since 1997.I can not fault this place and it is my first choice (pardon the pun) every time I go to Zakynthos.
I shall see you all on tuesday 19th and looking forward to staying in the wonderful apartments called Villa Denise.

Sian M

We have just got back from the Villa Denise Apartments in Argassi. It was the
WORST holiday we have ever had. It is supposedly a 3* accommodation and
it was any thing but!!!! The room was filthy on arrival and it took 3 days before
it was finally cleaned again. We felt unable to cook there as it was so dirty.
The bathroom draines stank to high heaven. On empting the basin in the
bathroom the water would them come up through the drain hole in the floor.
The pool was dirty and random dogs kept coming in an urinating everywhere.
It is away from the noise of the main strip of Argassi but you won't get any
sleep as the Cockerel next door doodle doos all night long and the dogs on
the otherside seem intent on rivaling him all night. The walls are paper thin so
if you are a light sleeper you have no hope. We never saw Denis or Maggie!!!
So you can get drinks but just don't expect to eat at the pool bar but I believe
now that that was a God send. My only recommendation for this place - don't
stay there!!!

Tina B

i am going to villa denise for the first time in june 2005, what floor is the 3 bed rooms and is there a safe deposit box please could any one help.

Sue C

Lynne
You mention air conditioning in your comments. How much does this cost and is it available in all the apartments at Villa Denise. Do you have any recommendations for Argassi and the area?
Thanks
Sue

Tapley L

Just arrived home from villa denise. Very friendly welcome by Dennis and his family. Great views of zante town from room 15. Pool small but excellent Dennis cleans it every night! Rooms very hot, recommend air conditioning. Apartments clean but basic. Ideal for families looking for a restful holiday. Watch out for melon throwing into pool by Dennis. Argassi a busy tourist resort, but no noise of town at the apartments.

Sue C

I have just booked for the Villa Denise in September. Could anyone tell me if there are fans for hire at the apartments or locally. Any recommendations for this resort or island would be greta as this is our first time on Zante.
Thanks

Keri B

Just returned from "Villa Denise" in Argassi. My family really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and the maid service was good. The only thing that I could complain about would be that people reserved the sunbeds by putting towels on them at night, and as there were only a few of them, this was quite annoying sometimes, as the ones that were left didn't catch the sun until after noon. A fab two weeks!!

Simon P

October 18th will be when I shall be at the Villa Denise once more and I am looking forward to it so much.
Hope to meet some of the people who visit this website too.
Simon.

ACCOMMODATION

Simon P

Well October the 6th meant the end of my annual trip to Zakynthos and I must say it was as good as ever.Dennis and Maggie were all hugs and kisses when they saw me walking towards the Villa Denise and I was treated like royalty.
I had my favourite room at the Villa Denise which is number 13.It has a lovely view of the bay across to Zakynthos town and on a clear day the Greek Mainland and the nearby island of Kefallonia can be seen.
I would like ot say hi to all the lovely people I met, including Nick,Rhiannon,Jill,Peter and Harry,Steve,Aly and Oliver,Mike and Gareth,Barney and his wife,Roger and Chris,Andy and Leanne,Matt and Emma,Dale and family and not forgetting Mike and John.It was a pleasure to have met you all and I miss you guys very much.
Hope to return next year.Meanwhile please keep in touch simonparton6@yahoo.com

Simon P

Just 3 weeks until I am back at the Villa Denise once more and I can not wait.I am looking forward to meeting viewers of this website.

Danielle J

Does anyone know if there is laundry facilities near by?

Anne F

can you tell me how many fans you hired for the 3 bedroomed apartment, also how many liquid mosquito plug ins. We are going there in a couple of weeks time .

Susan F

We stayed at the Villa Denise from june 1st to the 15th and it was fantastic. We had a three double bed apartment on the 2nd floor (room 17) and it was lovely. The views were brilliant of the bay. Denise and Maggie are lovely people. Some of the other rooms are small, especially room 2 but dont let it ruin your holiday. The pool area is small but big enough for the apartments as most people go out for the day. The saturday befor we came home we had the pool to ourselves Bliss!!!! Take a fan with you or pay 12euros a week to hire. Also buy the liquid plug ins that kill mosquitos..u wont escape them otherwise!

Madeleine S

Can you tell me how much it will cost for a week per person in the Villa Denise apartments for June 2004.

Thank you,

Madeleine Shelter

Susan F

Hi we are going here on the 1st of June for two weeks. Is there anything we need to take that the villa does not have? Also will my kids ranging from 4- 13 enjoy it?

Simon P

Hi again Anne.
No safety deposit boxes are at the Villa Denise I'm afraid but if you
ask your rep then I think you can use some at nearby hotels such as
the Eleana and the Palmyra which are within 5 minutes walking distance
from the Villa Denise.
I hope you enjoy your stay Anne and please tell Dennis and Maggie that
Simon their best customer will see them again in september!
Incidently Anne you will see a container outside the Villa Denise
which says "Rubbish Here" on it.This is where you empty your rubbish
and it is not a comment about the place made by a disgruntled
holidaym

Anne F

Am travelling here in July. Are their safety deposit boxes available and if so where are they situated?

Laura P

Hi i stayed with Dennis and Maggie in 2003 unfortunetly have lost there contact emaill address only my friends and i are looking to go back there in August as it was the best holiday ever. Could anyone help please much appreciated laura.

Simon P

Hi everyone.
Just booked my usual 2 weeks at this wonderful place once more.
For those who want to avoid me I shall be at the Villa Denise from
21st september until 5th October :)
Seriously though I look forward to meeting everyone who will be there
at that tim

Simon P

Hi Anne. There are no kettles in the rooms of the Villa Denise so bring your own travel kettle (plus adaptor of course!)..and don't forget some mosquito repellent lotion/spray.This is needed wherever you are in Zakynthos and not just the Villa Denise! The 3 bedroom apartments are on the top (2nd) floor. Hope you have a good time,I always do.

Anne F

WE have booked to go in July 2003.Wondered if there are kettles in the apartments. Also which floor the 3 bedroomed apartments are on

Simon P

Well,my latest visit to Zakynthos ended on tuesday 22nd october and I would like to say what a fantastic time I have had once more at the Villa Denise. Dennis and Maggie were fantastic as usual and made me feel welcome. Would like to say Hi to everyone that I met this time, too many to mention all of you but you know who you are.Gary and Debbie,Dave and Paula,Liam and Debbie and all the others...Some actually recognised me from this website which was weird! It is generally quiet at the Villa Denise but there was a little noise from that Beer Academy place but not that severe that it kept me awake. Will most certainly return next year as usual and I hope to have an equally as good a time as this year.

Shirley C

Pool was shut at 5.30p.m but it was help yourself to drinks and leave your name on a notepad at the bar.Only saw Denis?once and never saw Maggie. No welcome no conversation, no information or help. It was clean and....basic.Missed the friendly touch we have come to expect.

Dave P

Excellant appartments, clean and spacious lovely views from the balcony. Idealy situated for bars and Resturants especially The Beer Acadamy.Surprisingly very little noise at night. Both Dennis and Maggie are very nice people and make you very welcolm. We will certainly return again

Danielle F

simon your just nasty! were going to come and see you soon!! say hi to claire for me!! hope your flight was ok!! michelle, wayne and lauren say hi! see you soon. Danielle.

Danielle F

Dennis is sound. the apartments were lovely and clean. the pool was the right size and the toasties were lush! good work dennis! but we did have to pay for using the fans when we didn't no we had to!!!! i came back yesterday and wish i was still there!!!

Simon B

The apartment block is set at the top of a fairly steep hill, and on first sight it looks quite clean and attractive. However the rooms themselves are quite spartan, with small balconies and just a little Belling cooker and fridge to cater with. The dogs and cockerels wake you ever morning between 5 and 6 o'clock, and the Factory Club and sky football bars can keep you awake quite late (bare in mind this was in September) The pool is very small and it is difficult to walk round with people on loungers feet being in the way. The owner is a nice guy, and the food is cheap and cheerful. Ask Dennis for a drop of his home made wine, from his mate in the hills - it helps you forget everything !

Rachell B

Hi Karen, You really have chosen a lovely place for your holiday! The apartments are located approx 2 mins walk from the main streets, which of course gives you the best of both worlds - the action if you want it or the peace and quiet. The apartments are up a little bit of a hill which can be difficult on a real hot day, but it is not bad and you will appreciate the hospitality given when you reach the top!!! We have stayed at Villa Denise for the past two years, in fact we enjoy it so much we are marrying on the Island next year (which is something that Denise (of Villa Denise fame) has offered to organise)! There are only approx 17 rooms at the appts. which I really preferred to the large hotel chains. Denise and his wife Maggie cannot do enough for you, they really are honest, kind generous people. The pool area is small but plentiful for the size of the accomodation, I would visit www.holidaytruths.co.uk and look for Argassi, Zante for more testimonials. You will have a lovey holiday!

Karen S

I am just wanting to know if the apartments are central? I also want to know what facilities the apartments have? Also is it expensive to eat out and drink in Argassi? Thanks if you can help me.

Helen

We had a super time in Zante, our apartment was huge as we were fortunate enough to get a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 balcony's on the top floor - smashing. You can't go far wrong in Argasi as the resort has something for everyone and the Villa Denise is a perfect base for a super holiday.

Graham T

Can someone tell me how big the pool is and how many sunbed's there are. We are a party of 15 Thank's

Rachael R

Denise&Maggie were lovely people that made our stay in Argassi very welcome,we were made to feel at home & had some good times around the pool & making cocktails with denise!hope to revisit next year

Vicki W

Hey Liz, were you talking to me, saying that you were there the same time as me??? if you were e-mail me!!!! Bristol_babe15@hotmail.com Speak to you soon, Vicki xx

Liz L

From what you said you were staying there at the same time as me, i was there with my mum and my brother, who were you?

Diane P

We have just returned from staying here for 2 weeks and would thouroughly reccommend it. Very friendly Greek owners Denis and Maggie who cannot do enough for you. The pool is small but ideal to cool off in or lounge around by and the children didn't want to leave it! The Villa Denise is ideally situated as it is far enough away from the restaurants and bars to be quiet but only about a 3 minute walk away. The beach is about 10 - 15 minutes slow walk, although it doesn't seem that long as there are a lot of shops to look in on the way. Best Greek restaurant - We thought the Elaina (not sure of the spelling) get to it by the free horse and cart or just up a side road if you are staying at the Villa Denise ask anyone directions. We also liked the Venetsiana lovely setting with live Greek music. Best English Breaakfast - The Green Frog. Best English breakfast - The Green Frog

Vicki W

I was in Argasi from the 24th July - 7th August...If you were also in the Villa Denise apartments at this time please e-mail me. Bristol_babe15@hotmail.com I enjoyed staying here "VERY" much and when i go back next year i'll be staying here again. Maggie and Dennis are the owners and they are the 2 nicest people you could ever meet. They will always say hello to you and ask how you are. Also, the drinks and food you can get at the pool-side bar, is EXTREMLEY cheap. There is also a weekly BBQ every Sunday at 8pm... BEWARE the cleaner doesn't come in when your having a shower!! i recommened you stay well away from the apartment when she's coming to clean! She's a nice lady who's from Albania, but she only speaks a very small amount of English, so don't make full-blown conversations with her, as she wont know what your on about. ANYWAY, overall i absolutly LOVED this place, it was VERY VERY spacious, and i would recommend it to anyone! Well, have fun if your going there, i know you will........ Vicki x

Stephen C

I'm 43 and due to a failed relationship last year,i actually travelled alone this year. You will probably find the pool busy at the time you're going. Not the place to spend the day as the pool area is quite small. Still handy for a quick dip in the morning or evening. Many more pools in the resort which are open to all, notably the Katerina palace,5 mins walk away. The beach is a 10-15 min walk down the hill. It's very narrow but if you are prepared to go a little further, you should find a good spot. There is a free bus to the sandy st nicholas beach which leaves from the wreck bar at around 9.00 am. There are watersports at both Argassi and St nicholas beaches. The restaurants i recommend are the Stars and Picadilly on the main street and the Enigma which is near the church. There are too many to mention. You will not find many bad ones. The Green frog ia more of an English menu.

Liz L

Who did you go to the Island with? How old are you? Does the swimming pool get busy? how long does it take to get to the beach? Are there any greek resuarants you would really recommend in argassi? Thanks for all your help

Stephen C

I guarantee you will love this island. I only came back on Sunday and i'm missing it already. You're lucky that you have got your holiday to look forward to. If you need to know any more i will be glad to help.

Liz L

Thank you fo that info, ill look forward to experiencing zante then!

Stephen C

All age groups will be found here. Obviously there are many greek restaurants nearby. You could do a different one every night on a two week holiday.

Liz L

I am going to stay at these appartments from the 14th of august and was wondering what type of age group the people staying here are like? is there many teenagers? i am 16 and like to meet new people! i would also like to know if there is greek restuarants? All the ones mentioned dont seem to be greek! any info would be nice thanks

Simon P

The Villa Denise is an excellent place to stay..although basic in a lot of ways,it has an excellent swimming pool and snack bar.The owner "Maggie" is a lovely lady and will always help you if you have any problems. She suffers with a lot of headaches though and I am always taking her a box of Anadins every time I visit..Tell her that her friend Simon who brings her headache tablets says hello to her then you will be OK!! Seriously though,Villa Denise is situated in a quieter part of Argasi but close enough to enjoy all the amenties that it has to offer. Eat at Tiffanys and buy your groceries from the Dolphin supermarket and I will guarantee a wonderful time for you.

Annette E

I would like to know how much it would cost 4 people to stay 7 nights.

A B

Denise & Maggie (owners of Villa Denise) are two of the most selfless hospitable people I have ever met. If you are lucky enough to be staying with them, you will see what I mean. We had a fantastic time in Zante staying with them, we did not want to leave, we all cried when it was time for us to go! I would recommend seeing the Island either by Boat or Moped, it has a lot to offer, we will definately be back along with evertone who stayed at Villa Denise this year!!!!! C U THERE!!!!!

Stephen C

Don't worry,it's O.k. Believe me.

Stephen C

Very comfortable.Everything you need, including your own swimming pool. Nice and quiet although close to the resort centre.
