would recommend bakkus grill to anyone.we have been going there for 8 years and you could not have a better host than mario, nothing is to much trouble for him he even sent his waiter to a shop because he did not have the drink that the wife wanted, you tell me how many places would do that!

and as always the food was great thanks mario see you and your staff next year.

Vakhos (Bakkus) is a more traditional style taverna with lots of excellent Greek dishes. We tried amongst other things, Greek Meze, lamb Kleftiko, beef Kleftico (rib-eye steak in it), roast chicken, plus various starters. Enjoyed the lot. The house red isn't too bad this year, hard to beat 3 euros for 1/2 kilo. We found Mario to be a friendly host and the rest of the staff were good as well. We visited three times, so it must have been good. Looking forward to the next time... Worth a try.

Also Known as Vakhos it's opposite the Cavo D'oro, We had one good meal in the restrautant I had the special plate, vine leaves and all lovely veggie things i really enjoyed it, the staff are happy, the house White is one of the worst that we had tasted. The second meal was a very different story. The starters were wrong, ok mistakes happen. then we waited what seamed like hours. think it was almost 1and Half for our main meal and my meal went back into the kitchen 3 times till is was right, i had stuffed fillet of sole but asked for no chips but veg not too difficult i thought.  The Scampi portions were small and it was more expensive than in other restraustants not good value. the food was poor but by the time it arrived we were so hungry we cud of eaten a scabby dog and the was some about by the beach, we did discuse our disappiontment about our meal but were meet with disapproval then to add insult in injury and found that they had charged me twice on my credit card for the meal. ( lesson on that one pay by cash!!!) it was one of the worst meals of our holiday and we eat out every night of our 2 week hol

We ate at Marios restaurant six of the seven nights we were in Kalamaki, so we obviously felt that the food was spot on.The LAMB KLEFTIKO and LAMB VAKHOS(house speciality) were my favourites, while my wife was extremely fond of the PORK SOFRITO. I would like to add that the remainder of the quite extensive menu looked just as appetising. Marios is ever the genial host(even driving me to our appartment one night when we forgot something, and offering to take us to the airport)and his staff were very helpful and friendly. We noticed that a lot of his customers were regular visitors, which is obviously a good reccomendation in itself.we are looking forward to our next trip to Kalamaki and to our next meals at Bakkus Grill.

Ratings still not working so ......
We liked it.

Bakkus Grill (or Vakhos) was recommended to us by our barman who used to work there.  Marios the owner was very welcoming and the food was excellent.  My husband had lamb kleftiko which was presented wrapped in foil in flames to melt the cheese and coat the lamb and potatoes (see photo). I had Greek chicken which was extremely tasty.  Could have done with larger plates since the generous portions were in danger of sliding off the plate.  It was a friendly place and Marios a good host.

we tried many places to eat and found this to be the worst...we were recomended to try here which we did and found the food and service very poor,we all have our own opinions so dont let this put you off try it for yourself

can`t wait to have my first meal here after we arrive next week.....the staff are amazing nothing is to much trouble the only problem we have is leaving ...hehehe MARIOS MEL and CARLA ARE ON THE WAY

Ruth A  (22 August 2004)

A bit more expensive but well worth it if you want to try real Greek food. The Kleftiko is one not to be missed with Abraham coming to the table with a flamming tray with you meal inside a tin foil bag in the middle of the flames, the kids meals are good value (the same price as everywhere else 2.50e - 3.00e). Mario and Abraham are a very good team at working the tables and making you feel welcome. Bakkus grill is well worth a visit.

Ian L  (12 June 2004)

We have been here so many times now we do not go any where else. Marios is the perfect host, he remembered us after three years as if it were the day before. Try anything Greek and you will be so pleased and so will they. His staff were beyond belief especially Abraham. See you all in October 2004

Ian and Sarah and the boys.

P.S We didn't like it we loved it.

Mel N  (05 June 2004)

We ate here almost every night and were treated like part of the family by Marios and all his staff...
If you want a spectacular meal then try the Kleftico...Marios brings it out himself and flames it at your table.
I spent my 40th birthday there and found to my 'horror' that my partner and Marios had put up baloons and banners!!!...I'll get my own back....We are going back in October...lol

You can find every kind of restaurant. We spend most of our holiday evenings in restaurants rather than bars and have a meal with drinks so we liked the traditional taverna type restaurants and we have spent from €6 - €12 each for a meal again it depends on where you eat and what type of food you like. My problem is I like it all so had to try them all.

Bakkus Grill is more like a traditional Taverna than some, a bit smaller maybe but that’s why we liked it. Very good food and prices. Made to feel very welcome.

Samantha L  (28 July 2003)

The meals are very good, as to is the service. Recommend this to anyone who is going to kalamaki

Sandra P  (28 July 2003)

very slow service and the food wasn't worth waiting for

Lynne N  (26 July 2003)

Very nice place, pleasant staff, and good service

Kieran F  (09 May 2003)

A very unassuming basic eaterie with none of the naff plastic facades like
many others in Kalamaki.

This was the first place we visited in Kalamaki - we arrived at night and it
seemed to be one of the more Greek places on our prowl up the strip so in we
went. First meal was Ok - the lamb chops and mint sauce wasn't what I had
expected when it came - but had good straightforward grills a handful of times
afterwards. Kids liked the chubby chap who seemed to be the boss... very
friendly and good fun.

Laura C  (14 September 2002)

hey this place is good!lol! nick and yiannis -- the 2 young greek waiters were cute! we kinda made friends with them - which was good as me and my mate were alone there! id reccommend this place!

Glynne W  (28 June 2002)

Maureen G  (16 September 2001)

this restaurant is the best in kalamaki. it is in fact spelt vakos, but pronouced baccas, they have both names on the front. we had every dish on the menu, and the kleftico was 100% pure joy to eat. it was served on a tray of flames, wrapped in foil, and the flavour was pure heven. the service was also excellent. very welcoming and friendly staff, always greeted us with a big smile. the price was very good and was about the same as others, but much better food and service.

Rich   (08 September 2001)

We enjoyed the feel of this place, very friendly, we where always greeted with a smile and the waiter helped us with our Greek. On top of this great home cooked food (Try the lamb kaleftiko)& no rushing you out if you wanted to savour the odd bottle of wine or too.
