Just returned from Zante 22/08/2005 enjoyed my stay at the krinas the two young girls that look after you couldnt do enough to help and i would advise to ask them about where to go and visit. also appartments may be basic but kept very clean (the cleaning staff just dont seem to stop working) had a problem with a leaking toilet which was repaird within half an hour.

Must add that i think the appartments at the back of the complex seem the quieter we had one of these and found everything nice and quiet on a night but had a late checkout room near the front and this was a different matter with the pool bar not closing till 3am.

Air con available at 35 euro 1 week and 50 for 2 weeks
safe deposit box 15 euro 2 weeks

hi we,ve jus c*m bk from zante n loved it, i came wid ma mum dad n 2 brothers, i had a gr8 time met plenty ov ppl my own age that i could go out with, the factory club was lots ov fun, so was the magic mushroom but factory is more suited 4 ppl my age(i am 16).the apartments were very basic, but very clean , the pool area was also very clean, i used 2 get up fairly late everyday and there was always plenty of spare sunbeds left, the staff at krinas r all very friendly apart from the old 1 who tells every1 off 4 makin noise and takes the pool balls away from you, however if ur greek ur b ok.i had a gr8 holiday n so did every1 i met there, i recommend the krinas apartments 2 any1.

Just returned from Argassi and had a great holiday.  The Krinas apartments were very basic but clean.  The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location of the apartments up a slight hill is just enough distance from the bars.  We went to Laganas for the day and thank god we did not stay there.  It was too 18-30's ideal for young singles or couples but not for a family of five.  I found Zante to be very reasonable in prices the food was excellent especially the following restaurents:- Ethnics 10/10, Castaways 10/10, Korali's 9/10, Stars 9/10, Big Plate 9/10.  You will be pestered by Pete and his family did go there once but never again food not bad but not as reasonably priced as other places.  My 2 daughters 16 & 13 loved the Factory and my 9 year old boy was entertained by Kenny at the Factory.  If anyone is going there please say hello to Kenny from mini me David he will know who you mean.  Anyway have a great time dont forget your holiday is only what you make it your self.  Word of warning the airport is a hell hole.  When you land there is only one conveyor belt and we waited 2.5 hours for our luggage.  When you are going home you queue for 1.5 hrs outside airport under a canopy so take plenty of drinks with you. Have a great time.

Susan V

We originally wanted to go to Laganas, cause we are 21 and thought that would be best for us, but were so glad when we arrived in Zakynthos that we were staying in Argassi, Laganas is like something out of the Uncovered programmes....full of slapper teenagers and boys who feel it necessary to wear union jack everything.

Krinas is a lovely complex. All the staff were so nice and helpful when I was mugged (on the way back from Boccoli, but dont let that put u off, never happens in Argassi!) Really close to every thing! Especially the Factory!!!!!! and 24/7!!
The apartments were kept lovely and clean, basically I have no complaints about them, however if u have small kids I would ask not to be by the pool, cause some people are quite loud at the pool bar at night.
Argassi has a rotten beach, but u can get the free bus to St. Nikolas, which is lovely. Watch out for those Life guards though!!! A FREE JET SKI RIDE IS NOT REALLY FREE!! if u get what I mean! I didnt make that mistake though.;)
The Factory is definitly the best bar/club in Argassi!!!
All in all, I think Argassi is my favoutite resort of all the resorts ive been!

My family & I have just returned from the Krinas.  We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, the accommodation was first class although a little basic.  It was very clean & the 2 bedroom apartment that we had was very spacious indeed.  The only thing that it lacked was storage space for clothes, there was only one wardrobe for both rooms (so don't take too many clothes that require hanging.  We did not have any complaints whilst in the apartments, the whole staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them.  Beware of the red haired lady in reception if the kids are making too much noise on the pool table (the balls will disappear for a day).  The pool bar is very reasonable with good food being served all day, the kids will find that they do not always pay for their ice creams/drinks etc.  Only one small gripe the pool is on the small side so by lunch time you can't see the water for airbeds and bodies, there are plenty of sunbeds but make sure you are at the pool side by 0930 or you will find them covered in towels (ignore the sign in reception, the management never removed a towel in the two weeks we were there).  Because of the crowded pool and the absolutely disgusting beach in Argassi we hired a car for the duration of our holiday (good rates on the strip in Argassi).  We found some really beautiful beaches in particular Porto Zorro, head for St Nicks then take the Azzuri Beach Bar turn off, do not take the Porto Zorro turn off.  You might want to try the Dafni Beach, take the Dafni Beach Taverna turn on the right under the big banner, it's very quiet with limited facilities but well worth a look.

booked for 14th july 2005  flying from Scotland, 2 studios for our family of 3boys 15,9 and 5 and daughter nearly12 as there were no apartments large enough for the time we wanted. Comments seem mixed, is there plenty for the kids? how far from beach, restaurants etc. We like a mix of relaxation and activity, hoping kids will meet some friends to keep occupied.

Pauline M

Hi everyone, My family and I have stayed at the Krinas appartments in 2003 and 2004 and we plan to revisit this year too. The first year we stayed there, our son...who will be 12 when we go this time soon made friends with other kids who were on holiday at the same time. As someone else commented earlier....we hardly saw anything of our son either, he had a ball. The family who run the Krinas are so friendly and welcoming. My son was very taken with Miriram's Husband Costa who likes motorbikes and just looking cool really. Connor (my son) thought he was the biz and Costa was very good with the kids who showed an interest in his bike. Very patient and friendly. Someone else commented also that they don't think they remember their child paying for an icecream at the Krinas.....this is pretty much true. Connor was always coming back with his money saying that Miriam or Katerina said it was on them. The resort as a whole is great for families. Lots for the kids to do and bars and travernas are geared to families. The kids love it. I've never had such relaxing holidays because my son is always so well occupied. I can't wait til I go back again this year and look forward to seeing Katerina and Miriam again...who,incidently, always remember you from the previous year. They must see thousands of people throughout the holiday season but they don't forget a face. It's a very warming experience.

Julie I

Hey Danielle, Have been to Argassi 3 times with my family! We have stayed at the Krinas once! There was 13 of us altogether and this included kids from 16 down to 8! Inever saw much of my 16 year old son....who made friends the same day with some more kids who were stating there and also the greek relatives of the family that own the Krinas! Yes it is true that the sun does leave half the pool area in the shade from mid afternoon, but that can be a blessing coz it gets really hot in the summer months! The accomodation that we were given was quite good it was a two bedroomed apartment that was kind of in the middle of the complex! Looked a bit like a row of little bungalows and there were only 4 apartments in this block! My brother-in-law and his family stayed behind us in the two storey chalet type accomodation and they were really spacious! The staff at the Krinas were really great when we stayed there in 2003 but I guess things can change! Miriram and Katerina are the mainstay at the poolbar and are really nice and friendly. Can't remeber kidz ever paying for an ice cream once!

They do nice food and arrange Greek nites and pool games once a week! Like I said this was 2003 so it might be slightly different when you go! All in all we had a good holiday apart from my husband going down with salmonella on the first night(Confirmed as salmonella on our return to U.K), not from food at the Krinas I might add and we also had a slight earthquake aas well( EXPERIENCE)! Argasssi is a nice compact resort with most accomodations, restaurants and bars centred in one main area! Up the hill to the back and left and right!! You'll see when you get there! There are lots of great places to eat and be merry and I am sure you and your family will have a great holiday! The beach at Argassi is not all that good but it has all the watersports going on! Kalamaki beach is much better for sunbathing and you can walk out in the sea for ages before it gets too deep!  All in all you should like the Krinas and Argassi so have a great holiday and enjoy the atmosphere that makes Greece wot it is! Don't expect luxury it is not like Spain or other European destinations but that is the main reason that we prefer it! The Greeks are wonderful warm friendly people and Zante is a beautiful island. Get out and about and try and explore! And watch out for the mozzies they can really bite!

Have just returned from a week here at the The Krinas with a group of our friends who have been several times before. We loved everything about it, the apartment was spacious, very clean and had brilliant views from both our front and back balcony. The family who own this complex are very friendly and professional and hopefully we will be going back in 2005. Angela & Dave Henderson

i have just recently booked a family holiday and my 15year old daughter is not happy about going there is there anything for that age group i also have a 6year old son. Is it good value for money. Is there any good resturants, kareoke etc nearby? any comments welcome

Fiona H

The accommadation was extremely basic but clean. We stayed in the newer studio apartments up the back. The pool area is small and spends a significant amount of the day in the shade due to the design of the surrounding buildings. It is aproxmiately 600m from the main T junction in Argassi town. Would not return however.

We are hoping to book for next summer June/July 2005. Family of 5, 2 adults & 3 girls 14, 9 & 5 years. There seems to be some conflicting opinions about the Krinas. Could someone give us some helpful advice please? Thanks

Dawn B

We have just come back from our holiday in zante. staying at the Krinas apartments. our apartment was very nice and clean and we had a brilliant view. The pool and bar was very nice couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help.argassi was nice and the greek people were very nice. we'd go back again we had a fantastic time.
i come to wonder what the people on some of the comments are talking about!!
we arrived on 29/08/04 and left 05/09/04.

Robin H

If you are intending on a quiet, friendly and entertaining holiday - then don't go to the Krinas Apartments.

You basically have a choice of lack of sleep due to the comings and goings of staff motorbikes, airport transfers and deliveries or noise from the pool bar upto 5.30am.

Also, if your children like to play in the pool or have a game of pool after 7.00 pm you have no chance unless you are GREEK!

It may also help your purse if you pretend to be GREEK at the pool bar where there is a different price list - from that of British holidaymakers.

You may think these comments are all sour grapes and that we should have complained at the time, well we did! but it's hard to complain to a 17 year old receptionist who happens to be the owner's daughter, sister of the bar manager and sister in-law of the midnight riding trials bike rider.

Would we come back to Zante, Argassi YES - but never the Krinas Apartments.

Annmarie E

Went with a group of 13 for our wedding in Zante. Got married on October 4th 2003 and the staff couldn't of been lovlier. When we returned from our wedding there was a beautiful basket of flowers congratulating us. Our Apartment was absolutely fantastic and we were all put in the same block (just by the spiral staircase up to pool on your right). We had a maid who came into our rooms every day and put our stuff back where it should have been. If we left anything around that needed washing up she would even do that. I am disapointed to see some comments as we had an absolutely fantastic time and would definately go back again. I would recommend them to anyone. Had a fantastic wedding reception in Zorbas (highly recommended if you have kids). The food there is wonderful. Hope you have a lovely time and have a drink in the pool bar for us!!!

Denise J

We have just returned from our holiday at the Krina's Apts and it was great. The apartment was very clean and spacious. The kitchen equipment left a lot to be desired but that's Greece for you. You would not be able to do a proper meal but we found it cheaper to eat out than in anyway. I only discovered this web site 2 days before we were due to travel and was very worried about some of the things I read on this site. All I can say is that it was all very typically Greek and what you expect from accomodation in Greece. We have been to many different places on different islands in Greece and I cant find fault really with this accomodation. The staff are very friendly. The pool area gets busy and there was a lot of "sunbed saving" which really is annoying, and the same sad sacks who never leave the side of the pool and have to have the same sunbeds in the same place day after day. We had the air conditioning it was great, although you somtimes wake in the night freezing!!! By the way if you go to Argassi dont forget to watch out for Peter at Tiffany's Restaurant.

Hi to all who stayed at here during 23/05/04 - 31/05/04.. This is our second year staying at the Krinas and we wouldnt want to be anywhere else. The whole complex is spotless the staff are terrific and the food is excellent. Great pool and bar area, plenty of seating and sun loungers and plenty of room to use them. A big THANX to all the staff. Mirium, you and your family really do make a big differance to everyones holiday.
All our love & best wishes
CAT & Andy

We're just back from a week in Argassi and stayed at the Krinas Hotel. We've been to Zante 3 times and these apartments were by far the best. The rooms are simple but immaculate and the pool/bar area is fantastic (and spotless too). Pool bar serves really delicious (and cheap) food/snacks - try the full English breakfast! The staff who run the complex are really young, fun and can't do enough to help you. Hi to Miriam and Snobby the dog - missing you all already!

Had a fab time last year so going back again soon. Hotel well worth it as its simple but clean, all staff helpful and fun. Hi to Mirium . see you soon. and of course not forgetting Theo. The whole area was just great and just what we wanted. Anyone wanting to visit Aggassi go to the Krina's.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday here and I can't fault a thing-though the 'kitchen in the wardrobe' has to be seen to be believed!!! All staff were very friendly and had alot of time for my young son who loved them all especially Katerina and Miriam.

Alice D

me,my mum&dad,sister,nephew&brother-in-law spent a week in Krinas Aparthotel it was lovely!! me and my nephew spent most of our time chasing cats!!i can't put a bad word to the staff at all they were all very friendly. i can't wait to go back next year and maybe the year after that!

Katerina

We have stayed in Krinas Hotel this August and were pretty disappointed with the standard of accomodation offered. We were initially placed into room 234, which smelled of mould and hardly received any sunlight throughout the day. Our "double" bed consisted of two "singles" pushed together with a wooden bed frame in the middle. Hardly convenient we thought, and asked to swap rooms. By the way if you want a double bed, make sure you specify that when you order. We thought it was obvious but not so, you might receive a DOUBLE room with TWIN beds. You can also request higher floors and sea views. The rooms overlooking the pool are more spacious, lighter and cleaner and you finally feel like you are on the holiday you paid for not stuck in a stinky old basement. Too good to be true? Yes...If you like to sleep at night, don't take them. The poolside bar plays the same tunes over and over again every night untill 1-2am. Even the best 80's fan would get bored listening. The rooms themselves have a variety of problems. Ours (212) had a leaking sink pipe, broken kettle and our bathroom door kept falling off. We complained and argued a number of times but nothing was done. The administration staff complained to the holiday rep saying we cause too much trouble and that they will not deal with us again. Thus nothing changed. I guess what I am saying, is that your impressions of Krinas depends to a large extent on what room you get and what type of accomodation you are used to from your previous holidays. Argassi itself was nice, but Krinas almost ruined it for us.

Brian Y

STAYED AT THE KRINAS APARTMENTS ON 26TH AUG 2003 FOR 2 WEEKS HAD A GOOD TIME, STAYED IN ROOM 401 ROOM HAD GREAT VIEW OF SEA AND ZANTE TOWN. ROOMS WERE CLEANED EVERY DAY, DIDNT THINK MUCH TO SELF CATERING PART OF OUR ROOM BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY THING WE COULD FAULT.POOL AREA NICE WITH GOOD FOOD YOU HAVE TO GET UP EARLY TO FIND SPACE FOR SUNBATHING THOUGH!! THE BEST PLACE TO HIRE A FAN ARE THE LOCAL SHOPS 9 EUROS PER WEEK KIRNAS WANTED 21 EUROS PER WEEK! WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN IF GOING BACK TO ARGASSI.

Janet J

I'd like to echo the comments made earlier about the lack of space in the rooms. We had a 2 bedroomed apt for 4 people. However, we only had 1 small set of drawers between us & the cupboard in the kitchen so we too had to live out of suitcases. The balcony was totally inadequate (even if we did have a view of the car park). The noise from deliveries, ringing phones & the regular motorbike trials was dreadful. We gave up trying to sit by the pool (no chance of a sunbed) & headed for the much quieter pool at the Krinas Villas just down the road. I have been going to greece for 20 years now & I have to say, that even the most basic accomodation I have stayed in has been a lot better than The Krinas.

Julie I

We stayed here 7-21st August 2003 and we had a good holiday all in all. Hello to Miriam,Katerina,Costas and Yanna is Phevos still on the bar? Apartments were spotless and there was a really nice atmosphere by the pool. Bar snacks really good and the genorosity of all the staff was endless!! Thanx for looking after Ashley when we were out, he was kept well fed without any money!! There was a buy now pay later policy, which included tabs which were added up with very good accuracy by Miriam and Katerina, who knew what you had bought even if you'd forgotton!!!
We were there when they had the earthquake, which was an experience and also the weather was exceptionally hot even for Greece!!! There was also a wedding party there the fortnight we were there and the staff did a really good job of making their day special! Also thanx to Clayton (the mad man from Amoudi) for lots of fun by the pool!!! There were 13 of us, family and friends and we all thought The Krinas was a great place!! Sorry other people didn't have the same experience as us!!

Joan B

We stayed at the Krinas Apartments 28/07/2003 we were in room 232 on arrival we were immediately dismayed at the location and condition of the apartment

Room 232 is build on top of a water pump. The pump clicks on and runs for approximately 28 seconds, then it shuts down for 11 seconds then clicks back on again and this is continuous throughout the day and night. The apartment is located to the right and slightly above reception with panoramic views of the reception roof and the car park. The reception phone rings night and day and the area is busy with deliveries, pick-ups, and drop-offs.

This apartment was substandard and completely inadequate, it is dirty and shabby and much too small to accommodate four people.

The double bedroom has one double bed with gray threadbare sheets, two small bedside cabinets with one small drawer each and one table with two small drawers.

The twin room has two single beds with gray threadbare sheets, and one small bedside cabinet with one very small drawer. Therefore we had to live out of our suitcases and climb over them as the floor space is not big enough to accommodate the suitcases and our feet.

The eating area has one cupboard with a hanging rail for clothes but unfortunately you would require a stepladder to reach the clothes rail but no stepladder is provided.
-
The lock on the door of the extremely dirty bathroom was not working. You can lock it with a key from the outside and the inside. Unfortunately, you are required to pass the key out of the bathroom window for someone to let you out, as you can not unlock the door from the inside. I was assured on the 28/07/2003 that the lock would be fixed. The lock was not fixed.

The balcony had one small plastic table with four chairs all lined up in a row. The reason for this being that you cannot sit two chairs beside each other around the table, as the balcony is not deep enough.
Two people can not pass each other on the balcony.

The water regularly came up the toilet drain and soaked the cases lying on the floor in the twin room. This continued for all of our stay in this room. The room would become flooded with other peoples dirty shower water.

This is our seventh visit to Zante. I have never had any cause for complaint and I am totally appalled at the condition and standard of cleanliness of this accommodation We did move apartments on Thursday 31st July at lunchtime. The water pump operated the whole time we were in apartment 232, which is a total of 77hrs - four days into our holiday. The first night’s sleep we got was Thursday 31st July. The apartment we were given was not above a water pump; the bed linen was clean and not threadbare. We will never go back to the Krinas apartments.

I do not feel that this was a holiday as this experience was very stressful. If we had been on holiday in Britain and had experienced conditions like this we would have gone straight home and taken legal advice.

Ashley D

We were in the Krinas apartments, not to be confused with the Hotel which is the one at the top of the hill.
The apartments were clean when we arrived but after sweating in the unconditioned rooms for 4 nights, they finally came to change the sheets.
Try not to get one of the top floor rooms as they are built as an after thought and their timber construction and metal roofs make them like saunas. Also make sure you don't drop any food as you will soon be innundated with ants.

That was the only bad things to say about the holiday which my partner and I enjoyed very much. A trip to Artimis Bar for the Karaoke with Mark and Gina on Tuesday and Saturday nights isa must if not just to see Ady strut his stuff in the street to YMCA and stopping the traffic.

If you go on Zakfari jeep safari (the only one to use open topped jeeps) then proper footware is a must to get a good look at the wreck. Reached over 50c on the day we went so plenty of water as well.

Holly J

I was just reading the comments when I happened to see Cindy had mentioned EMILY!!!! Hey Cindy, Holly here, remember us 4 girls, you were our mum for the 2 weeks and such a great mum you were too, resolving mine and Amy's tiff!! You won't believe it but I actually bumped into her and Christine down Yates, a bar in our home town, me and Kelly tried to run away but you know what she's like, always manages to find you!

Loved every bit of Zante, I have the holiday blues, keep looking at the holiday photo's and noticing how brown I looked......not any more!! Totally recommend Krinas, lovely people and nice clean rooms.

Amy B

I was really looking forward to my two weeks in Zante but as soon as I arrived I realised that it was going to be a holiday from Hell! Firstly myself, my husband and our 16 children were required to climb up a very steep hill with all our suitcases without any help whatsoever. I simply wanted to get my room after a long night flight, but the lack of staff at the front desk resulted in us waiting for half an hour. The wait was not worth it. I was rather embarrassed to be able to clearly hear the honeymooners next door in their nightly and I might add daily pleasures; on the other hand my husband seemed to rather enjoy himself(but that is besides the point.)The next day, after a very long, loud, sleepless night, my children were somehow squeezed onto the balcony whilst we got ready for dinner. i was rather shocked when one of my younger children came in holding the remains of a used condom and asking "whats this mummy?" It was believed that it had been tossed over from the balcony next door during lunch, when we had heard some rather suspicious sounds.Things went from bad to worse. For the remainder of the holiday we experienced, amongst the food poisoning, dirty linen, rude staff, drunken hooligans each night passing the hotel, and beligian hoola-hoop dancers frequently invading our room demanding on giving us a demonstration. Not to mention the disturbing sight of the manager walking his kipper every morning by the pool asking it what it would like for dinner.I was glad to finally leave to return home to the sanity of my own home. The only thing I gained from this holiday was the peace of mind that my children knew it was possible to have safe sex but still have fun, as the nightly screams proved.

My boyfriend and I spent 2 weeks at the Krinas Apartments at the end of June and beginning of July 2003. We had a lovely 2 weeks there, and were very sad to come home.

The Krinas were basic, as you would expect with Greece, but they were cleaned almost everyday, and the reception and pool/bar area were spotless. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. On the first night they asked us if everything was ok, and we mentioned one of the mattresses had sunk in the middle, and they replaced it with a brand new one the next day. Theo the barman was lovely too, and often gave a few freebies. The kareoke nights were fun, but make sure you get up there and do a song, otherwise the bloke that does it only does songs aimed at the over 50s!! The only thing to be warned about is the cockerells. After a few nights you do get used to them though!!

The hotel and the resort were excellent for couples. One night we did venture into Laganas, by taxi. Laganas is aimed at the 18-30 singles group, but it was worth it for a fun night. We had a very entertaining taxi driver who we haggled with and paid 22 euros a return trip.

In Argassi, we often ate at The Green Frog. The service was slow, but the food was nice, especially the Mexican selection. We also ate at The Tropicana, The Phoenix and one of the Chinese restaurants. The Tropicana was very good, and it also had a free cinema showing the latest films as well as regular quiz nights that were fun. As for the nightlife, try The Beer Academy, Avalon, Kiss and The Jungle Bar for cheap cocktails. Don't bother with The Factory, and give the 24 hour snack bar a wide birth the food was not very nice even when we were both paraletic!

If the pool at the Krinas gets busy, there are many other pools in the resort to go to that are free. The beach is small, but nice as it's breezy. If you book day trips, do this through the places in the town as it's much cheaper than with your tour rep. Don't bother with the Greek night in Kampi though, it was a long way just to see 2 dancers, although the food wasn't bad. Do go on the cruise though around the island, but try not to use the loo on the boat, no matter how desperate you are!!!

One final note, you may have warned before, watch out for Mini-Me outside Tiffany's restaurant. He really is a pain, and so is the Indian lady outside the nearby Chinese (oh and the rose-sellars!)

Hope you enjoy the resort as much as we did!!

Irene C

Hi Cindy
I am back a week today from Argassi, myself and my boyfriend were only there for a week and as soon as I started reading your email I knew exactly who you were, when I saw the banners and ballons hanging from your balcony that day I could'nt believe it was your 40th B-day, you certainly don't look it, I would have given you 33 absolute tops ! I do remember EMILY, I did'nt "know her" but I definately knew who she was, from being around the pool each day, I mean who did'nt know her, she was a so so loud !!! but entertaining at the same time.
Got talking to Glenn (ROVER) and his girlfriend on the way home they were on our flight, really nice couple. Definately hope to go back to Argassi again and for two weeks this time to do a bit more exploring. Hope you settle back home OK and remember you'll have your memories forever !!!

Hi

8 of us are off to the Krinas Apartments in Argassi on 31st August for two weeks (three couples two singles). Wondered if someone could give us some feedback on the apartments as I've heard good and bad reports. Also can you suggest places to eat/drink and day trips. Is it worth hiring a car while we are there for a few days. Any idea's feedback would be fab.

Thanks

Kate B

SIAN Yes you should get some kind of transport. there are some lovely mountains you can drive up and see wonderful views. It also leads you to a lovely view. Drive to Zante town to see a more cultural side of the island. A car costs about 90 euro for 4 or 5 days, and are availaboe on any of the rent places on Argassi main street. A moped is more fun though, and you can go pretty much anywhere on them. We drove to Laganas and spent the day there, and it was better on the moped as it is too hot to be stuck in a car. Moped is 10 euro for 24 hours!! Enjoy your hols

Hi Everyone
Me and my boyfriend are staying at the Krinas in a couple of weeks time, I was wondering what the public transport is like for getting around and what sort of cost it is? Reading the comments Argassi sounds like a lovely place to visit. Is it worth hiring a car? Or how much does a scooter cost to hire?
Thank You
Sian

My boyfriend and I have just arrived back from Argassi and we had such a wonderful time. The cleaner was just brilliant and was in every morning to clean...a little to early for us but never mind. It's always easy to get a sunbed no matter what time of the day it is. Katerina and Theo were amazing, but STOP with the free drinks!!!! There was karaoke twice a week, which was great fun and the Greek night was brill, I think everyone discovered hidden dancing talents. We recommend Castaways or Phoenix for something to eat. The Artemis bar was always lively and what can I say about the Oasis bar except...GO THERE!!!!Stay away from the Factory unless you fancy hanging out with drunk 15 year olds. Going to Laganas for the day is a must too, the beach there is fab. Did someone say there was a beach in Argassi? The cheek of you guys to call it a beach!!!!the STATE of it!Kerry and Scott, we miss you so much, you guys were the best couple to hang out with ever, never forget those cocktail fuelled nights and doin Eminem on the karaoke!! Finally I would go back to Krinas apartments anyday, and by the way the 'hill' is really a hill, its merely a small struggle when you're a little drunk, or if the weather is scorching. we had highs of 42 c....ENJOY!!!!

Nick Y

Unfortunately we stayed in the dive next door but did have the use of the pool at Krinas. The whole place seemed spotless including the loos. Pool was great, perfect temperature and the pool area is a real sun trap. Good bar with reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff.Wish we'd stayed there.

Me, and 6 friends (all 18) have just come back from argassi, and all i can say is... that it was the best two weeks of my life! The krinas is an excellent hotel, we had the apartments away from the pool & roosters, so was dead quiet, apart from the scooters!! Would not hesitate to go back, the hill is really not that bad (if u keep going up past the krinas, thats when it gets bad!) Theo the barman is a cool guy! Infact all the staff were mint! especialy mandy the security guy! Ive got a tonn of photos i'll upload some to the pictures section (and the rest can be found on my site when they get developed: www.irawk.co.uk) I envy anyone going back there!! i wish i could have got a job and stayed!

The Krinas is a five minute stroll to the centre of the resort the nearest supermarket is a minute away and there are loads of other supermarkets and tavernas/resturants all down the road into the main resort. You can buy most things you would need in the resort. The beach isn't brilliant compared to some of the other beaches but there are bars with pool and sunbeds right on the beach its just that the actual sand bit isn't very wide. The krinis itself is really nice the rooms are basic but spotless the owners and staff are really friendly and good fun the pool can get a bit crowded but we have just arrived back from 2 weeks there and are thinking about booking for next year

Hi Everyone

Hopefully someone can help me. Myself and my boyfriend are travelling out to Zakynthos next week for just a little over a week. Staying at the Krinas Apartments in Argassi. Can any of you that have been there (and perhaps stayed at the Krinas) fill us in on some details ??

1. How far are restaurants/shops etc. from Krinas
2. Is the a supermarket/shop onsite in Krinas ?
3. What is the beach really like in Argassi, is it worth visiting or would we better off travelling elsewhere ?
4. Any recommendations for things to bring that you can't get out there ?

Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you all

Becky

me and my boyfriend stayed at the krinas about a month ago and were both really pleased with it. The apartments are at the top of the road (which is no way a hill!) and so was near enough to be right by the action but far away enough to have peace and not hear any noice in your room. The pool was lovely and although it was small there was never any more than 10 people round it at one time-also all of the hotel pools are open to anyone so you can go to a bigger one if you want. The maids were good and came every 2 days so the apartment was always clean. The only thing was that the owner was one of the grumpiest gits ive ever met!!!!!

Tania M

Just back from Zakynthos having had a fantastic week there with my friend Martina. We stayed at Krinas Apartments but we were lucky to have had an apartment away from the pool - we didn't hear any cock-a-doodle-dooing or karaoke! We found the staff very friendly, especially Yianna, Katerina and Theo and the cleaning staff did a great job, even cleaning around us when we were hungover or coming back later on to clean instead! Yes, the apartments are up on a hill and we had 40-42 degrees of heat every day so it can be a bit of a struggle when you're tired but not impossible! We had great views of the sea from our apartment and we had airconditioning but some of the apartments only have ceiling fans and to be honest we couldn't have managed without the airconditioning. The cooking ring is totally adequate as i only used it to heat water for a cuppa in the mornings and the fridge was fine too. The food in Argassi is quite cheap and remember - you're on your holidays so you shouldn't have to cook a dinner while you're there! We can recommend a fab restaurant called Papillon - down the hill from the apartments and turn right and it's on the right-hand side. Ask for Claire who is just the loveliest waitress ever and the food was excellent.

Yes, Argassi is couples-ville as we called it. If you want a mad night out you can take a taxi into Laganas and go to the clubs there but if you want a nice dinner and a few drinks then Argassi is perfect. I would definitely recommend the boat trip - 15 euros each and it lasts the whole day and is a must. We were very sad to be leaving - the Greek people are wonderful, very friendly and very kind and we'd definitely go back and stay at Krinas again.

Beth S

Went to the Krinas 17 June with my boyfriend. We had a fantastic time, the hotel is located up a really small hill and is not as steep as I thought it would be after reading previous reviews. In fact its in an ideal position as the views are great and you dont get disturbed by the noises of the town at night. The hotel is spotlessly clean and although basic are comfortable and have all the amenities you need when your on holiday. The resort itself is more focused for couples, we didnt see many groups of people over there.
There is a huge variety of places to eat, we recommend Athina which is leading down to the beach at the crossroads, its fantastic, as is the Target bar which is right at the top of the hill overlooking the whole resort and Zante town, and there is a free bus that takes you up there.
I would really recommend The Krinas, its really lovely and the staff are so friendly. Argassi itself is wicked too, lots to do and really good fun.
Would definately go back!

Hi All
This is the second time i have wrote and i am very curious about the appartments all i keep hearing is bad things about the appartments are they really that bad. Can you please help me and tell me if they are suitable for two 18 ya=ear olds and is the area lively enough.

Please Help!!!!!!

Emma D

Me and my boyfriend are arriving at Krinis on 8/7/03
and we were wondering about the night life around the
area. could you please tell me whether it would be
suitable for two 18 yr olds or is it more for families.

Please Help!!!!!!!

Donna W

Stayed for 2 weeks from 27/5/03. Weather was very hot every day. Room was basic as people have already said, we never cooked anyway as it was cheap enough to eat out. Slightly noisy at night with the motorbikes and the cockerels cock-a-doodle-dooing at all hours! Theres karaoke twice a week up until 1.30am but if you consume enough Amstels or Metaxas you wont notice!! We hired a jeep for 2 days to see the island which is a MUST!! There is so much to see on such a small island. Gerakas beach was superb, our 4 year old loved it. On the whole one of the best hols we have had for years, would not hesitate to return to Argassi but would prefer apartments maybe not so basic. Staff are very nice, most people are either English,Irish or Scottish so not wrestling for a sunbed with the Germans! We could still get sunbeds at 12.00 midday if we wanted though when we left on June 10th it was very busy all day long. Will return without a doubt.

Kerry F

Krina's Apts were really good, maid service everyday, the staff at reception were really friendly especially Yianna. The only bad thing was that our apartment overlooked a farm with Billy goats, roosters etc, so it was really noisy early in the morning...(try and not get an apartment overlooking the sea. If you like Karaokes then this is for you, as the pool bar seemed to have them every few nights!!! The hill to the apts is not bad at all!! The location is great, its only 2 mins to all the bars/resturant.

David G

apartments were basic but clean. maid service was excellent, they even did a bit of washing up we had left. the walk up the hill is not too bad for anyone who is not disabled. just outside the main commercial area so it is reasonably quiet, unless you are unlucky enough to get a room near the pool. pool is quite small and does get crowded. the pool bars near the beach are a better bet. try Remezzo really friendly people.this is basic greek accommodation don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.we were there last 2 weeks in may 03

Barbara G

To Patricia Hanratty, don't worry, you won't actually come into
contact with the roosters! If you get a room facing the sea, they
overlook a olive grove/smallholding type of thing, and there are is
a rooster and a couple of chickens, a donkey and some goats wondering around but they can't get into the hotel grounds. I only
ever saw them when I was on the balcony, unfortunately though I
heard the cock-a-doodle-do at approx 5am every morning. But I got
used to it after a while and actually quite missed it when I got back
home! Have a good holiday!

Barrie J

Forgot to put info about late checkouts, there is a shower down stairs in reception, kettles are available at €10 for 2 weeks as for air conditioning or fans none available, advise to sleep with inside doors open outside ones closed, if too warm leave all open but get a bug ball, Freely available in supermarkets

Barrie J

What can i say about Krinas, apart from go there, the appartments are
very clean & very well maintained, the staff are very friendly, as for the roosters coc-a-doodle-doo back at ya!

Janet J

We are staying at the Krinis for 2 weeks in July & was wondering if there is any air conditioning available in the apts or fans to hire? Also HOW steep is that hill? I have just had surgery & walking is a bit of a problem at the moment.

Rebecca L

I stayed at Krinas with a friend in June 2002 and have to admit our first impressions weren't that great. The studio we stayed in was tiny and I can't believe they described the room as having a kitchenette! There was a fridge and a sink and there was supposed to be a two ring cooking hob but this was missing when we arrived and they didn't find us one until two days after we got there. You definately couldn't cook anything in the studio (not that we was planning to). I did like the pool though, there was a good atmosphere as everyone was pretty young and most people were friendly. Note to Patricia: Our room was on the ground floor and indeed, there were roosters/cockrels on the farm right outside our balcony but you can get a room higher up with either a pool view or overlooking the road which is fairly quiet. The hill leading up to the hotel isn't that steep but is full of potholes and it is quite dark walking up or down it at night so don't make the same mistake as me and wear high heels, you could end up doing yourself an injury! The beach in Argassi was disappointing, it was so packed there was no privacy and you had to pay for sunbeds which were literally jammed up against somebody else's. A taxi into Laganas only takes 10 minutes and the beach there is fantastic. The nightlife is brilliant in Laganas too, although I prefered the nightlife in Argassi. Loads of great bars and restaurants to choose from, we didn't get in until at least 4am every night. All the latest music to dance to, which was good. Must recommend going on a boat trip, we went on one around Zante island which lasted all day and was fantastic, if you can get a decent seat. We managed to sit on the top deck but got sunburnt quickly so make sure you use loads of suncream! All in all, I would go back to Krinas, it's cheap, cheerful and very clean but would only recommend it as a place to crash at night and have a quick shower before going out. It's not really suitable for cooking or eating or spending time in. But by the time you get to Argassi, the last thing you will want to do is sit in the apartment anyway. Have a great time!

hi,

I am going to Krinas Aparthotel on the 26th of july for 2 weeks however I have to say i am very afraid of roosters and any other things like that, I have read in one of the messages that there was a couple and they were on the ground floor and behind them was a farm now this would kill me. I need to know is there any way that I can get a room up high away from all these animals and just have a nice relaxing holiday. I would love somewhere with a sea view....Please help?

Hello to everyone at Krinas,

Myself and my family are staying at Krinas from the 9th May 03 for 2 weeks. We are really looking forward to our stay and have enjoyed reading the comments from past guests.

Our flight home is in the early hours of the morning, we have called Thomas Cook and requested a late check out/extra night in our room and have been advised that this is not possible! We have a 4 year old little girl and it would be fantastic if you would be able to help us with this.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Sarah
(I have tried to e mail Krinas and the e mail is not working!)

I booked these apts last Sept for 2 weeks in July 2003. I have since found out that I am due to have a major operation in early May & I am worried that the steep hill will be too much for me even though it will be 8 weeks after the op.How steep is steep?

Steve H

Going to the Krinas in argassi for two weeks starting 6th june, few of us lads going, just wondering if any1 has gone to the main lively resort(laganas) by taxi (few of us LIVELY lads going ;). Travel agent told us it was only a 10min taxi ride to laganas, is this the case? thanks - e-mail me@ steve@irawk.co.uk

Stuart B

We stayed at the Krinas Apartments in May 2002 and thought it was a lovely place and wouldn't hesitate to go back there again. In fact when we returned from our holiday we tried to book the Krinas for our 2003 holiday and found it to be booked up during the time we wished to visit. The staff were very friendly and although the accommodation was basic it was extremely clean. The whole complex was cleaned every day and our rooms were also cleaned on a daily basis. The beach although quite small but we still enjoyed sun bathing on it. We ate somewhere diffierent every night and did not have a bad meal whilst there. The Krinias is set back from the main resort up a small hill. This did not bother myself or my girlfriend but I think people with mobility problems may want to reconsider staying there.

Pauline C

Excellent value for money. I was a little worried as we'd booked the cheapest holiday we could find but was very pleasantly surprised. the room was basic but big with a good sized balcony with a sea view. The pool wasn't huge but it was big enough to dip in to cool down. The bar prices were very reasonable and all the staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned daily and even if you were still in the room in the morning, the cleaners would come back in the afternoon to clean the room whilst you were out. The noise wasn't too bad. There were a few cockerels, dogs and moped noises now and again but it was much better than being near a lively nightclub. It was far enough away from the bars/clubs to not be noisy but close enough to walk from the aforementioned after a few shandys The hill wasn't as bad as I'd expected. In fact it wasn't even really a hill just a slight walk on a slope for a couple of minutes.

Peter M

Just come back from two weeks in the Krinas Aparthotel, I can't complain about the the size and state of the apartments as I only paid £352 and I spent most of the time by the pool anyway. The staff were pleasent enough and I had no problems with anyone. My heart did go out to Denni, the evening barman from Holand who now and has lived in Athens for the past 12 years. On Monday 14th Oct he was told that he was not needed and he had to leave on Friday 18th (not only from the bar but from the Krinas itself) this he was told by the owner of the bar (the daughter of the Krinas owner), he was supposed to be there until the 27th - sad to say he was the best of all the staff (sung a wicked Kiss by Tom Jones)(well in his own style) GOOD LUCK DENNI. Your the Man

Buell M

We stayed here in October 2002 and couldn't fault it. Spotlessly clean. Nice and quiet, (the roosters are not a problem if you drink enough the night before!!!). Only sat by the pool one day out of the fortnight, (nursing a hangover), and that's the first time we have EVER sat by a pool. (I've never seen the point of paying good money for a holiday, to spend it sitting by a pool all day long). We made use of the pool bar a few times though and Dennis's "Depth-charges"!! (the cause of the aforementioned hangover). The hill was not that bad, but become tiresome towards the end of our stay, but suppose it could be a problem to the elderly or infirm. If you think that hill is bad, try staying in Porto Rico in Gran Canaria. We never had much contact with staff, but then again, we never had the need to, which must go a lot towards saying what a good job they were doing. All in all, a nice place to stay, & we would not hesitate to go back there.

Peter

We stayed at the Krinas in September and thought it was very good. It was always clean and the bar was good too. The pool was a bit small and you had to be up at about 6 a.m. to get a sunbed but the beach was only 5 mins away and there was a great pool/snack bar right on the beach called Remezzo's.

Veronica D

Just back from Krinas. I wasn't sure what the hotel would be like after reading the previous comments... I enjoyed it loved the hotel, our room 807 was in great location up that "hill". It was a lovely big studio. The cleaners were in every morning! Mind you we did lose our saftey deposit box key (Drunk!!) and they wanted 45euro for replacement.. good luck i gave them 20euro and was on my way home then! Good place entertainment not the best though....its what you make of a holiday that counts!!

Ted H

The Hotel was better than expected from reading the previous comments and the famous hill was not too bad at all. Being out of the centre made things a bit quieter (except the cockerells of course) but all in all was ok. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was kept spotless. We would certainly recommend this complex.
