Dafne Beach is a small piece of heaven on earth Dimitri and his wonderful family run the tavern's on this beach With home made bread and tomato puree in olive oil and herbs. The kindest people I have met in a long time. Thank you for yr hospitality. Just be careful going up & down the road, it doen,t take much for scooters to slip/slide.

Vassilikos-summed up it is 'Paradise on Zakynthos' If you have worked hard all year and want a quiet peaceful break then you can't beat it. Plenty choice of tavarna's for a leisurely meal after a hard day on the beach with a good book!! (Highly reccomend Giovanni's). Afew supermarkets, gift shop and Bakery all within easy walking distance of the hotels and apartments. Several Bars with Pools open to all if you stay in a studio, but for great value for money I would reccomend the Arion Hotel. It is run by a lovely family who will give you a very warm welcome should you choose to visit. The beach is lovely with plenty of umberellas and beds for around 3 euros per day.
There is not much in the way of 'entertainment' on the beach, nor is it there much 'nightlife' so if that is what you are looking for then head for Laganas! and leave Vassilikos remaining the tranquill place it is for those of us who enjoy the peace and harmonic quiet!!!!!!!!!!

You can exchange money at the Louis hotels reception. There are 3 hotels together on Mavratzis beach. Excellent place to stay.

Although not as good as Vasilikos, there is a large, good beach in Laganas, but obviously a lot busier than the ones in Vassilikos. Wouldn't recommend the mopeds after seeing the queues outside the pharmacies, but you can get buses in and taxis back reasonably. But if it is nightlife and a good beach your after, try Tsilivi.

If you want a quiet holiday with no lager louts, yobbish behaviour, etc this resort is for you. Mainly for honeymooners, young couples with small children or the 45+ age group. No nightlife to speak of, apart from Yanni's coffee bar which gets a bit lively some nights. Some Tavernas have live music and most impromptu parties seem to happen after there's been a storm and all the tables and chairs are brought inside (well, it happened when we were there, what a laugh we had). I thoroughly enjoyed the slow pace of life there and the people couldn't be more friendly and helpful - 3 supermarkets, one with deli, one bakery and a fruit shop, lots of tavernas though and easy access to lots of beaches. I will definitely be returning.

I love this area. It's beautiful and friendly and quiet.
It has plenty of places to eat.
The deli/supermarket on the main road is great and Tinika and Xhronis(also known as Paul)are extremely friendly and very helpful.
The nightlife really only consists of the tavernas and the coffee bar next to the deli.(also owned by Paul's family)
We're going back in Augustand I can't wait.

I am hoping that my first holiday in Vassilikos will be as enjoyable as my previous visits to Kalamaki. I promise to let everyone on this excellent site know my views. I am returning to the beautiful island of Zante in May with my new husband who has never been to Zante before. Let us both hope that I have chosen well. I wanted to stay in a more peaceful unspoilt area this time.

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to be!
Great beach, nice quiet places to eat and the locals are great!

Hi there happy people!! Going 2 zante in 3 weeks'time ;o) Just wondering whether one can easily reach Laganas (by scooter) from Vasilikos. I'd like 2 stay in vasilikos 4 I've read there are good beaches there, but I also fancy spending my crazy nights in laganas, 4 I know vasilikos is pretty low key for this...while laganas is zante's nightlife spot...but its beach must be very poor... Many thanx for your help Anna

Plenty of good beaches here, though some of the less crowded ones are cleaner and cheaper for sunbeds.

Just returned from 2 weeks. Quiet, pretty, lots of walking if you don't have transport altho plenty of opportunities to hire scooters/cars.I had to buy a buggy for my 4 year old due to long walks to beach/pools from our accommodation. People very hospitable and kind. Loads of tavernas serving great food - Greek, Italian and English. Not much activity nights apart from cafes and tavernas but we were not looking for night life. Gerakas beach (turtles) beautiful and best we went to. Local supermarket (Mais) run by helpful woman speaks excellent English. Can recommend glassbottomed boat cruise for turtle spotting - Marios tour. Fabulous weather in August - we are very brown. Most hotel pools are open to all on assumption you will patronise the bar. Panorama Hotel was our choice but we didn't try others. We were happy with it and used its internet service happily - charge 300 drachmas per 10 minutes - approx 50p. Fine resort for R&R but not if you want the highlife. Bus service very erratic by the way.
