| Good News! The Alkionis restaurant in Alykanas is under new management and is to re-open on Saturday May 11th for the 2013 season. The new people running it are the Vourtsis family (Spiros, Lena and George) from nearby Katastari who ran the well reputed Zeus Restaurant in Tsilivi which is now sadly closed after 11 years. I guess Tsilivi loss is now Alykanas gain! Good luck to them for the future. We look forward to eating there on 15th. |

went to the alkyonis last week allso for the greek meze, asked the waiter what the dish consits off, Stuffed Peppers, Chicken, Vine Leaves,Beef Stifado,Moussaka.
The Meal was luke warm, i didnt eat the chicken on it, good job my partner was ill for three days, avoid at all costs, the staff wasnt interested when tols them the mousaka was lasagne

Went there 3 times this holiday, all meals were nice (although the 3rd time we went there i found an insectin my chicken fillet)

Excellent. We ate here 8 times (in a 2 week holiday). Try the flaming kleftiko and the meze for 2 (meatballs, chicken, lasagne, moussaka, potatoes in garlic, beans, stuffed vine leaf, stuffed tomato, stuffed pepper, beef stifado) all for 12 Euro. You also receive1/2 carafe of wine per table free. |

We had a great meal here the penultimate night of our holiday, - so much so that we went again on our "last night". I gather there is a new cook - glad to see this old favourite is back on form.

Had a lovely meal in the Alkyonis. I had the spicy stuffed chillis for starters they were delicious ! All in all the whole meal was very good, would highly recommend it.

| After holidaying in Greece for the past 28 years we found this to be an excellent retaurant managed by an English couple Maria & Kevin. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for all their help & consideration when we ate there each evening. The reasons are as follows: The place was clean with facilities for children at the back, The Greek dishes are very authentic, They will explain dishes you are not sure about & will give you a variety of options so that the meal is to your liking, All meals are very hot which is not always the case in Greece. I recommend spaghetti carouso, beef steak & lamb in the oven. Please Maria & Kevin continue with the Sunday roast complete with Yorkshire pudding, but put it on the menu full time not just Sundays. We hope to see you again soon, Ann & Neil. |

Hi - just to let the previous person know that the Alkyonis is directly opposite Busters Bar and that the food is really good - both for value and quality - the free wine is also very welcome.
We've had various dishes here being a party of 6 and none of us have ever had any complaints - the spaghetti carouzo especially is wonderful.
If you do pay a visit say hi to Kevin and Maria from Chriss, Mal and all the kids from Manchester and tell them both to 'slow down' (they tend to run around like scalded cats!!).

| Found this on our last nite, our firends had been the previous nite and highly recommended it so we went back with them on our last nite. The food and service were really good, even though it was during a really heavy thunder storm and raining, they managed to serve everybody and even having to move people round as the rain cam in everywhere.
Would highly recommend trying this taverna, before the end of your holiday, you even get a 1/2 carafe of free wine, which was very nice. |

One of our favourite restaurants and visited it the most during the two
weeks, Food and service were great all of the staff very friendly and
helpfull.
Kevin recognised us from a previous visit 3 years earlier which was nice considering the amount of customers he must see.
Go there you won't regret it

 We have been to Alkyonis Tavern about six times while we were on holiday in may, the food is excellent, service was outstanding, Kevin and Maria were very g ood hosts, made you feel welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them. We went there last year and because we enjoyed it so much we went back again to see them this year, they remembered us from last year. If you are not a big eater like myself they will give you a small portion.There lamb with mint just melted in your mouth also there meatballs were very nice. I have put a photo up of Kevin and Maria so if you ever go to alykanas please go and see them they will welcome you with open arms. We will go back and see them again.Pauline & Jamie |
