Can't believe that in 14 years visiting Tsilivi we have only just found this place. It's absolutely wonderful!! All the meats and hot dishes are on display - the food and atmosphere is wonderful. A true Greek taverna - the only one of it's kind in tsilivi...

This year will be our third year in Tsivili in a row.  We found Demaras by chance on our very first night when walking the wrong way into town.  Though the service seemed a little slow to start we found this only added to the charm of the place.

The wait was worth it as the food was fantastic.  Nikos the waiter who seems a shy guy was friendly and could not do enough for us taking us proudly into the kitchen to show us what dishes were available.  My wife loves Rose wine and their homemade version is a must.

We returned many times and each time was excellent.  Last year and again this year it will be where we will dine on our first and last night and many nights in between.  The Rabbit Stifado, Pork Steaks, and Ribs are a must and the Greek Salad is the best by far.  Not forgetting the gorgeous chicken dishes on offer.

Found this taverna on our second to last day whilst having a walk, there was a large bbq with a pig spit roasting over it aswell as some chickens and pieces of lamb. Spoke to a young man and asked what time it would be ready, "about 4" he said . Went back at about 6.30 pm and had the best meal of my hole 14 night stay. Hade a whole chicken and a kilo of pork between 4, it was fantastic, also took a doggy back to our hotel. We had  bread, a couple of starters, wine and the meat and only cost 50 euros

nearest place to our hotel. looked really nice when we went passed one night so decided to give it a go. wish we hadn't.  the dish i cose was unavailable so i had another greek special- far too much salt. portion sizes were variable our 10 year old had grilled chicken and appeared to have a whole chicken on his plate, my husband had a pork fillet with half fat and if our daughters bbq pork ribs had seen a bbq well!!!

This taverna was a little out of the way but well worth the visit. We stayed at Strofades and so it was about 0.5km walk. Sadly we found it on our penultimate night and visited it again on our last night. The barbecued food was superb! It was cooked on large open grills. The local wine served here was also excellent. Never tried chilled red wine before,  but it's a must. The food was first rate and the costs were cheaper than in town. For us it was the top restaurant, although Romios and Sweet Revenge come joint second. We also noticed that the locals (may be Greeks on holiday) used this taverna as well. Always a good sign!

I can see that no comments have been added to this restuarant recently but am not sure why, can only assume it is because the restaurant is quite a walk from the main area of town but we thought it was worth it.   It was extremely quite when we were there, only a few people each time we were there but the food and service was excellent.  Ate here a few times and had a lovely meal each time.  The local white wine is a little potent though!  Try the Lamb Kleftiko or Beef Stamna, fresh fish also very good.  All served with fresh veg, potatoes or  rice or salad -  whichever you wanted.

A really excellent family run greek restaurant. Warm friendly greeting as we arrived, food was freshly made traditional fare, service was good (available when required without being intrusive) live music provided from accordian player finished off a very pleasant evening. Later we noticed a sign "We use our own farm produce" we now know why everything tasted so good.

Only one thing to say, this is by far the best restaurant in Tsilivi and the only restaurant that even comes close is the lighthouse in Keri. Mind you I did eat there with two american greeks and ordered 2 tonns of fish. T Try the lobster and prawns.

A really nice traditional greek meal. The food was much better than other restaurants in the centre of the town, and the restaurant was quieter but friendly. Service was not all that quick but that was part of the meal, enjoying the atmosphere. We were even given a complimentary plate of tradional home made food to enjoy with our starter. I would recomment this if you want to enjoy something, typically greek. Also other greeks ate here unlike other restauants that were full of tourists!!

this looked like a lovely taverna from the outside....but it wasnt. i dont mind paying over average if its a decent meal, but mine was all bone and no chicken and my friends was all fat and no pork. plus they added extras onto the bill that we hadnt had, and didnt even give us the option of keeping our change. couldnt be bothered 2 complain, but felt annoyed at their cheek. dont go 2 this one!

See Sheila Prenderville's instructions below to find this place on the road to Zante town. They also own a farm down near Vassilikos so they have a steady supply of fresh ingredients. Greek offerings well above par, very good Moussaka made with loving care! Grilled porterhouse steak was cut from joint displayed in fridge. Red Snapper - from fresh fish display - also excellent. If you order the 'Mixed Starters for 2' you won't need a main course!! I can never understand anyone complaining about the service in a Greek restaurant, this is Greece!!! Anyway, they were very attentive when we were there.

Very good food at excellent prices, served by friendly staff; however it can get chaotic at times.

Very good food. Try some of the starters ( recommend the Fried Courgettes/White Bait). They have about five lovely tiny kittens and would not recommend going there if you don't like cats. Look out for the greek bloke who looks like Felix (the old barber) from Eastenders.

This taverna is well outside the centre of the resort but worth a visit if you are staying nearby - Sandy Maria, Dinos, Litsa, Sunlight apartments etc. From here there's a sign along the road back to the main road into the centre and if you are staying elsewhere, from the centre, follow the main road and it's along the road back into Zakynthos Town - turn left opposite Sandra's bar by Dionysos taverna and walk along until you see the sign for Demaras - it's very traditional, open lunchtime and evenings, and the first time we visited there was a big group of Greek people having lunch there - good sign! Not recommended for those who are not looing for traditional Greek dishes though.
