Porto_roma Beach Zante Zakynthos

Getting There: Follow the main road from Argassi. Go through the town of Vassilikos and continue until you come across what looks like a crossroads. Straight on is Gerakas, turning left will take you to Porta Roma

Access: There is a short steep ramp leading directly onto the beach

Sunbeds: Yes, but not many

Toilets: Not on the beach itself

Watersports: No

Safe for Kids: Fairly safe, but some areas have a rocky bottom and there are sea urchins around the harbor end of the beach

Food & Drinks: There is a taverna at the top of the cliffs surrounding the beach

Turtles: No

Seaweed: Some weed in the rocky areas

Sand or Pebbles: A mixture of sand, pebbles and shingle extending a few metres into the water then mostly sandy bottom

Car Parking: There is a nice parking area adjacent to the taverna with trees giving shade

a lovely quite beach, its narrow but a not a lot of peple there. far left of the beach is a very nice taverna, it looks very old and a bit hiden from view, left from the taverna a long the beach is where you can get an all over tan if you like!!. the pic on the left is looking towards mavratzi beach from just above the small taverna

we liked the quiteness of the area beach was very clean only downside was over priced sunbeds and restarunt beach was not like a junk yard anothor down side was the bus services only 3 buses a day and if you miss the last one and you dont live nearby its a long walk home ((no taxis aroud and if you do see one most likly it wont stop for you )) if you have hired a car or bike do go and vist it !!

Porto Roma suffers by comparison with all the other beaches in the area. The beach is very narrow. The sand is quite stoney. The area by the harbour looks like a junk yard.

Discovered Porto Roma on our travels. Not as nice as Porto Zorro but still quiet, though initially rocky to get in. Found the people who ran the taverna to be miserable as sin and really put us off the area, went back to Zorro the following day.

Not really for the kids. A narrow beach, shingly and steeply shelving.

Last summer I spent a few hours at this beach. Make sure you have some type of thongs or swimmers shoes on your feet as it is initially quite rocky when you get into the water. Once you get past the rocky part, the water is quite lovely and clear. The "sandy beach area" is long and curving but only about 15 feet wide. Very quiet beach compared to Laganas but not as spectacular.
